Yup, this means that FFmpeg was compiled without libfaad. Download, compile, and install libfaad. Then re-configure (./configure), make clean, and make install FFmpeg. You should configure FFmpeg and add the following to your flags:
./configure
--enable-gpl
--enable-decoder=libfaad --enable-libfaad
--enable-decoder=atrac3 --enable-decoder=h264 --enable-decoder=mpeg4Offline
after doing everything you said i receive the same error as MohammadAG

First of all, I just want to say thanks to dashhacker. YOU ARE THE MAN!
Now I don't know if I'm the only one having this problem... I'm on Vista Home Premium. I got almost everything to work... but when I click launch, it says that Open Remote Play is connecting, the "connecting" screen hangs for about 10 seconds, then the screen closes.
Has anybody run into this as well? I've seen youtube vids where it's working on vista... is it just an issue with my computers (I got the same result on both my desktop and laptop computers), psp (TA-85v2 motherboard with 5.0 m33-6 CFW), or ps3 (60GB NTSC)??? Or maybe it's a deadly combination of all 3?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This seems a bit stupid but, did you add the Keys.orp file ? Cuz it hung when i tried it and forgot to add the Keys.orp file.. well try it and see.

beta 1.3 When will you release it?
Offline
Not until I can implement proper audio/video synchronization and buffering. Could be a week, could be a month, or perhaps longer.
Offline
I think you have done a fantastic job so far. Really hope you have good luck with synchronization.
This will be fantastic once the audio & video is in sync. Hope you luck and really appreciate your work. I hoped someone would figure out a remote play hack for the longest time.
This makes the ps3 so much more accesible and usefull. I will use this alot through my laptop.
Really hope some other dev`s get around to helping you with this fantastic app.
Will you release a windows and linux version on release of beta 1.3? Only asking because I use vista.
Yours

Yes, every release will include a build for OSX and Windows. Linux users can compile from source. At some point, I will improve the build system (autoconf/automake) so that compiling from source is less of a hassle to set-up.

Wish you good luck with it. If you think I can help let me know.
Including a build for OSX and Windows is a good idea and nice to know;)
Its such a shame looking at the psp go that they have no intention of being able to use
ps3 games with romote play. No Right anolouge stick gives that one away.
Do you think that Sony may block this hack with future updates to ps3?
Surley they can`t stop the keys being read from the psp?
What's your thoughts?

Hi DashHacker
First off, awesome program!
I have a request, I'm not sure if anyone working with you or around you could help but it would be fraking AWESOME if you made a version for the Android.
I mean, accessing my ps3 from my cellphone would rock!Absolutely! That's been one of my top goals from the beginning of this project. When the code is stable and feature-complete for PCs, then I'll look at iPhone and Android. The tricky part will be to get all the required libraries ported over. Some of them already are, but some big ones, like FFmpeg are not. In the case of audio/video decoding, using the native codecs would be faster anyway.
I totally agree that being able to access the PS3 from mobile devices (other than the PSP) is ORP's killer feature. Any chance of seeing a WinCE / Windows Mobile port? I know Windows Mobile isn't hot these days, but the fact remains that it's been around a long time, has a huge array of available applications, and is (ironically) one of the more open mobile platforms. After a quick glance through the dependencies, it looks like most are available - including an FFmpeg port.
If you have no plans for a WinMo port, I'll just have to put all my hopes into getting Android fully funtional on my phone ![]()
Awesome work dashhacker!

Hey so far this seems pretty great cant wait to try it out. But i wanted to ask something sort of asociated with the subject. Well atleast the controler subject. If i got it right you could use a 360 controler on a PS3 this way. But i wanted to know is there a way to use a PS3 on a 360 besides the XCM Cross Fire?

At this time, I don't have any plans for a WinMo port for two reasons. [1] I don't have a phone that runs WinMo, and [2] I really believe there are more talented developers out there that would be able to do a far better job at this than me. I've done my part; I've released the source-code. I will target ports to platforms of interest to me personally (iPhone and HTC/Android), because I own those devices.
If my primary phone ran WinMo, I would certainly port ORP to it, or at least try... :)

I don't have a 360 so I could be wrong on this, but I do not think that is possible without some funky hardware hack (cross fire). Maybe ask the same question in the forums at xbox360-hacks?

No right-analogue stick is a shame. However from a developer's perspective, I understand that decision. Since the PSP-Go is not a new PSP (ex: PSP2), they really can't mess with the input hardware (add/remove buttons/sticks, etc.). If they did that, they would fracture development between PSP-3000 and PSP-Go. I guarantee that they (Sony) will be adding the right-analogue stick to the PSP's successor.
I doubt Sony will block ORP since, as you mentioned, the keys can always be obtained from older, hacked, PSPs. Unless they unwisely choose to alienate more than 99% of the PSP user-base by disabling Remote Play on PSP-1000, 2000, & 3000. They can't change the keys until they have somehow disabled homebrew on all PSP revisions.
My gut feeling is that they will open Remote Play for PCs... maybe they're already working on it.

Hey Dash!

There's no open port on the PS3, and when enabling the UDP search orp fails when trying to get some packets from the PS3 (the SDLNet_UDP_Recv call keeps returning 0): any clues on what I'm doing wrong?

Looks like the PS3 is not in Remote Play mode. Under Network, select Remote Play. Then you will be able to access the PS3 on port 9293 (not 19748). Hope that helps!

Hey Dashhacker.
I must say I am very impressed. Just got it working last night. Works great. My main objective was to use the PC to control the PS3 so that it could play tunes off my media server onto my home stereo WITHOUT having to turn on my TV. That all works great except that I realized that I need to turn on the PS3 and select Remote Play before the PC can connect. This kinda defeats the purpose as I'd need the TV to navigate the PS3 menus. Is there any way we can establish the Remote Play connection without having to navigating any menus on the PS3? Would the Power-On feature solve this? If so, is there an eta for that?
Again, thanks for your efforts.

WoL (Wake-on-LAN) has been implemented in ORP v1.3. Though, there hasn't been a binary release for that version yet. It could be a few more weeks until it's ready. For this to work, you need to configure your PS3 for Remote Start if you haven't already. There is some information about how to do that in the FAQ.

I assume you're running Windows. On your desktop computer, search for a file named config.orp. Under XP, it can be found in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\orpui
Once you've found it, copy it to your laptop, and put it in the same place where you found it on your desktop.

As some of you may already know, Sony has blocked Open Remote Play as of PS3 firmware v2.80, June 24th. At this time, ORP will no longer work for longer than about 30 - 60 seconds. I've only looked at the problem for a few minutes but it seems that they've "poisoned" the video stream by some means rather than changing the keys or cryptography.
I'll study what they've done and patch FFmpeg within the next... week? month? Not too sure how long it'll be before I can undo Sony's greedy brain damage. I'll post any progress here as I muddle through it.

why does Sony always block everything thats done even if it dosn't hurt them, there system or hurt anyone else - this dosn't harm sales of there system or software so why block it

I think sony should have MADE THIS THEMSELVES, not a lone let this guy try to.
Stupid how every joy in the ps3 is crushed by sony ![]()

They just hate this because they know that people using this means they have modded PSPs, and additionally, they don't like the idea that somebody "might" be able to use the feature without buying a PSP.
Well congrats dashhacker, you officially caused Sony to release a new firmware, with their generic "system software improved blah blah" tag they use when they don't want to tell people what they really did.
