PS3 power problem

Hi, today a friend of mine gave me a PS3 to look a it, the ps3 turns on.....but last like a couple of seconds and turns off again, what could be the problem???

Overheating possibly, does the light at the front flash or anything?

If you do not hear the FAN, it could be overheating, but you should get about 13 seconds from that, not an immediate turn off.  It may be a power supply failure, they're internal, see if you can try another one, SEE if...

If its a red flashing blink i'm sure it is overheating, my phat does it after like 5 minutes. Might be the fan or too much thermal paste on the chips, or it might be the power as PS said.

Yeah i would Worried but i need to update FW and i'd prefer to not risk a brick and then most likely not deactivate it wink
