PS3-Hacks.com / PS3 Update Question

Hey guys, I'm sorry if my topic was posted before

my question is:
I just got a PS3 80GB PAL (Model No. CECHK04) that comes with system software v2.36
I want to update my machine so I can play some of the games that doesn't support v2.63 like Mirror's Edge which requires at least v2.42

the recent update is v3.01, I heard so far that it f-up your console. I want to update to most recent/stable version but also I don't want to lose my backwards compatibly to play PS2 games

please advice

i have no problem with 3.00 but i heared that the original uncharted game will crash on this one, and if you want to play online you will at least have to update to that one

i have 3.01,

What do you mean "if you want to play online you will at least have to update to that one?" Since when do we have to update to play online? I was able to play online without updating to 3.00.

But now that you mention it, it seems I'm getting error 8002A212 when loggin in on PSN. I'm assuming it's just a problem with my network configuration.

For instance I'm running EttercapNG on my pc with XAMPP acting as a webserver to host a hacked \update\ps3\list\us\ps3-updatelist.txt file with a redirect from fus01.ps3.update.playstation.net (since all those posted IPv4 addresses for this hack are fail), where ps3-updatelist.txt is defined as:

...and you're saying that this ain't gonna work no more? That's BS! There has to a way to hack this. Sony is failing hard right now with its unprecedented bricked PS3 problem, and the 3.01 update has a high probability of killing your BD. I'm not updating my CECHA01 until Sony fixes all these problems. But as I understand it, it's gonna be a while until another update comes, since Sony's kinda busy gettin sued b'cos of the 3.00 f***-update.

And I don't buy that 3.0x "works fine" crap! My friend's 80GB Fat blew its hard drive up shortly after the 3.01 update. He told me that after the 3.00 update his system's fan started to run louder than ever before (which suggests that the update is running the system hotter than it should).

Update to 3.0x? No f-ing way! I didn't drop 5 bills on an Alpha-series to have it bricked by Sony's failstation stupidity.

Anyways...To OP: have you tried google-ing: PS3UPDAT.PUP download 2.80 ? You should be able to find a WORKING update that will give you what you need without killing your PS3 in the process.

every update has been manditory to play online except what ever was after 2.8 and now 3.01 where not mandatory updates

Why would you think your console would LOSE something it came with? You will not lose anything like that, Sony said they will continue to support the BwC models, not for better compatibility, but so you'll be able to keep it. They have to make SO many different firmware updates now, but, they continue to do it. If someone told you updating would cause you to lose BwC, they're daft...

Yeah, I know that, but I'm not talking about straight-edge users, always updating to the newest firmware when the PS3 detects it via http://fus01.ps3.update.playstation.net … telist.txt. This site is called PS3-Hacks.com, right? So, I'm assuming that most people here know about and use the "No FW Update" hack or exploit in one way or another. Especially for those that want to keep their old 1.50 fw AND play online.

I've been doing this for many months (even well into the 3.00 release), it's just that recently I can't seem to login completely to PSN. And I (as I'm sure everyone else) would like to know if others are using this hack method, how they are using it, and how successful they are.

Yea, there is no real reason to stay at 1.5 when 3.01 adds MANY great features... especially in-game xmb. Also, if, for whatever a hack does become available, it'll probably be on newer firmwares, seeing how nothing happened in the last 3 years with 1.5 and pretty much no one is still on it.
