Has Sony added this to any of the firmware updates?

so simple to make ps3 owners happier, yet sony is slow to think about it. i cant believe their more focused working on the friends list appearance and not the simple things. let me send videos&music and better yet add friggin AIM or YAHOO chat! and while your at it give me better file/folder options so i can sort my files better!
sony needs to re invent its OS on the next update and live up to the slogan "it only does everything".
it would be sick to be multitasking during a game playing music, watch videos, and have a open web browser. can the ps3 CPU handle all that with a better developed firmware in the future? or am i just dreaming of the xbox windows 720? gaddamn, think sony!

not that u would, but if the ps3 can flex those muscles is what i meant.

I think the friends list is simpler than in-game music...

Thats Game Independent.
Games i know that do:
Midnight Club LA (single player)
Need For Speed Shift (on psp i have) (dunno if it works for ps3)
Some Games Do.
How ?
Press PS Button go to your music and try to play a song (next song will play afterwords).
often i got
" Music cannot be played during this game " Something like that

My answer was sarcastic... The PS3 is not what supports the in-game music, it's the GAME...

who needs to watch a video while listening to a song and playing a game while surfing the net. it seems a bit overkill to me
Yeah, Windows can hardly do it, so how's a human going to multi-task like that?

They can't have in-game music for every game because Microsoft has a patent on that, this was discussed like two years ago...

What was cool with the original XB, was; you could replace the game's sound tracks with YOUR own, make the ISO then burn it... Some games also use the HDD CACHE and put the music files there, you could replace them as well. When it becomes easy to manipulate the XB360 games, you will be able to put your own MP3 files in for soundtracks.
Since the PS3 is no where near this kind of manipulation, you're stuck with what you get...

They can't have patented it, if they did it was a certain way of doing it for the 360.

There's always the radio/whatever
This was my most wanted feature before cross game voice chat became so talked about.

You cant Patent an idea. The code for how they did it on the other hand might be. Which means sony just needs to write their own code and would have to anyway.

OFCOURSE IN GAME MUSIC IS NOTHING FOR PS3 given that you can do it with psp IRSHELL so if hte ps3 is hacked its very well possible not to mention psp has quarter the memory of ps3 and almost 1/8th cpu power
