if you only have problems playing ps3 games then it's your laser , i know some cleaned the lens and got it working again, but some say it won't be for long ( couple of months ) , if you buy an used bluray drive don't forget to swap the logic boards, because the logic board is married to the console.
and if you wonder why i know all this info , it's not that i'm that smart but i learned it all from a slave

The PS3 mainboard is married to the BR-Drive; the main circuit board in the BR-Drive contains the KEY for your console.  You cannot buy a drive, then swap, it won't match the console.  If you have to get a new/used drive, it has to be the same one, then swap the PCboard into the one bought, then install it with your old electronics on the new mechanics.

Ok, lets try this again with more verbose, and simple terms...

If you have to get a new/used drive, it has to be the same one your PS3 has (make and model).  Then, what you do is, open both drives, then swap the PCboards.  So, you place your original board with YOUR key, into the one you bought (that has a foreign or no KEY), then install it with your old electronics on the new mechanics. (BREATHE)  The console and drive are married...

This takes 50% less time than changing a lens or laser assembly, it's PAINLESS compared to that.

so it seem if i want to clean the lens or replace the lens , i'll have break the warrantee shield?. and if i'm finding out the problem is not from the lens or driver then my ps3 is good to go right? since sony not gonna fix it with the warrantee shield broke . seem a hard decistion to make .

i need help when i played need for speed shift i got to the end the nfs live thing and turned of my console when i turned it on in the morning my nfs shift game had reset can some1 tell me what happened i even turned it of properly and let the game save i saved it aswell before i turned it of is it because my cousin created a new account and started the game on his account
