Again, does the RECOVERY menu come up? - AND, do you even know what that is?

See items in bold...

1. Turn off the PlayStation 3 and leave it on stand-by

2. Hold down the power button. You will here one beep as you touch the button and another a few seconds later. The PS3 should turn itself off again.

3. Hold down the power button down once again. You will here a beep as you touch followed by another single beep a few seconds later.

4. Take you finger off the power button when you hear the last two beeps In quick succession.

5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB.

6. Press the PS button and you should see the recovery menu.

Yeah, as if "I leave play i lot" makes sense either...  We know, basically, he leaves it ON, that's what I guess.  That's why I use the Auto Off feature, just in case...
