New Folders Created on their own?

I signed into my WINDOWS XP account named Jon's PC ACCOUNT today.
When I went to open the MY MUSIC folder, everything was missing... and I do mean everything.

When searching around on how this happened, I realized that when I went to MY COMPUTER > DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS, there was a new folder there. The original was Jon's PC ACCOUNT, the new one was Jon's PC ACCOUNT.LASTNAME (I will conceil my last name, but you get the picture).

Now, I don't know how this happened, but it did. Even the original account, named OWNER.LASTNAME was added.

My current account READS Jon's PC ACCOUNT but all the files and everything are under the Jon's PC ACCOUNT.LASTNAME.

Why is this?

Oh and 3rd one was made now called Jon's PC ACCOUNT.LASTNAME.000

Re: New Folders Created on their own?

You may have a virus on your PC, have you scanned your system? Can't think of any other reason as to why this would happen

Re: New Folders Created on their own?

Hey thanks PS.

And, I'm running on ROGERS ONLINE PROTECTION which has built in FIREWALL, ANTI-VIRUS, ANTI-SPYWARE and other stuff built right in.

What PS said seemed to be my problem. Thanks a lot.

Re: New Folders Created on their own?

I have been using AVG free since it came out, as said, then found it uses your PC to bulk e-mail people.  I am now using Avira Free.  I have NEVER, EVER gotten a virus, and I never use an Emal client, I always use web based email.   Avira works with both Spyware and Viruses, it's cool...  Use FireFox as the browser.  You all should know by now that people specifically target I.E.  It has, and always WILL have more security holes than Swiss cheese.

Avast! failed me at a critical moment.  Never cared for the interface, either.  F-Secure (if you're willing to pay for it) does the job nicely.  I've not heard of AVG spamming folks, though.

I found it, believe me, it happens.

I was watching the square tray icon spin around, and I was not doing anything.  I looked at my LAN port light, and it was blinking away with activity.  Found it, It was scanning and sending EMAIL, and I was like, I am not getting Email, I don't use client based email; all mine is WEB based.  I opened the program to see what it was scanning, and I saw the folder.

So, I looked into the folder, and there was tons files in it.  I opened one, it was advertisement email for AVG.  I opened some more, and just looked at all the recipient names.  I surmised they were all for people who downloaded the AVG free.   SO, I abandoned the program, and send AVG a nasty letter threatening to turn them in to the FTC for using my PC a bulk email mailer.

I know what it did, I saw it, and they can't deny it.  They did NOT deny it, I got back a response, some stupid reply about the use of AVG Free, and bla bla bla, but I know there was nothing in the license agreement that says they can use your PC as a email platform.  I will never use or recommend them to anyone...
