external harddrive
i save all of my movies in an external hard drive in usually mp4 files. i want to play them on my ps3 .when i hookup my external harddrive to the usb port on my ps3 i see the power light come on for my hard drive but i cant find any of the folders to locate my movies.i'm obviously missing a step.can someone please help this newbie

Does the harddrive show up as a USB external drive. Usually when you connect a USB drive you have to press triangle and then choose show all or the files will not show up.

or rename the folders you videos music ect.. to ps3 Specific Name.
PS3 > VIDEO > Your Video File

That's how mine shows up as USB device (under the Photo, Music, and Video Icons), so I just press Triangle and SHOW ALL, and good to go.
The folders make it so video files show up under the video icon, and so on...
IF it is NTFS, you won't see anything.
