Well after countless hours on the phone with Sony and HMX/EA I decided to come here and ask for someones help.
I bought a external HD 500GB, Formated Fat32. When backing up it gets too 40% and stops and says the USB Drive Cannot Be Accessed. I have tried several times, using different HD's and no go at all.
Called up Sony, they dont know. Finally a support rep says trying copying the game saves manually, however with the copy protection locked game saves i cannot.
So i am left with one option, putting in the new HD and starting completely over, or keeping my 60gig I have in there.
Both EA and Sony provide no info as for the copy protection and why it was done in the first place.
I really dont want too start over.
So my question is which I assume is no, is there a way to bypass or unlock or remove the protected game saves? Will there ever be a hack to unlock these files?
Sony and EA left me no options, thus bringing me here, and I do believe someday someone will hack the locked game saves.
Thanks !!! ![]()

how did you format your 500Gb to fat32 , i know that to format an large hdd to fat you need an special tool.
maybe this has nothing to do with your problem but you need to do all the steps right ![]()

He said it is formatted Fat32.
Dunno what the problem is, but it should be working at Fat32, with the backup...

But if the file // game save is protected, wouldn't that stop the transfer? Like a PC, if a file is protected, you cannot copy it.
It gets to 40% and says, USB cannot be accessed, as if something is stopping it, like a protected file.

No, there locked i believe to prevent game save sharing (think mainly to do with trophies) anyhoo the backup utility should be able to bypass that as it will have the permissions to copy that file across.
maybe try reformat your external HDD, doubt it will make a difference but hell, anything is worth a try

Most games do not allow trophies to be unlocked by simply having a 100% complete save file.
Also, how about ROCK BAND 1, no trophy support; same as VEGAS 2.
They are just copyright protected. VEGAS I understand, the save data ties together with your online profile (so if you ranked up to 11 or w/e in single-player, thats your online rank). ROCK BAND doesn't really have anything that would cause this though.

Can you use something like this, and copy all the data too the new HD using windows?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi … drive+dock
Using a hard drive dock, transfer all data to pc and back to new hdd and put in the ps3?

NO, for the love of god, the HDD is ENCRYPTED, and formatted so that it will ONLY work on YOUR PS3. Simply copying it won't do anything...

Okay, thanks for the information, maybe someday someone will write a hack to bypass copy protection. ![]()
