Networking

Hey guys, just a quick question.

I have 4 computers within my home, 2 laptops and 2 desktops.
Now, my question is how to do network sharing.

My two desktops are running Windows XP and the laptops are running Windows Vista.

What steps must I do to fileshare between the two and also printer-share.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: The MAIN (mine) desktop is connected to the Printer, and my sub-desktop (my brother's) also has a printer attached, but I do not want to share that one [due to it being excessively slow].

Anyhow, I want to share between my main computer to the 2 laptops, don't worry about the sub-desktop I have.

Re: Networking

Just SHARE the drive or printer and it will be shared.  You may be prompted for Sharing, if so it should have an option that says something like "Just enable sharing" something like that.  You don't have to go through SETUP really...

Also, sometimes, all the PCs should have the same WORKGROUP name, makes it easier for navigating.

XP and Vista will see the shared devices...   It is pretty easy...

Re: Networking

I encountered some problems.

[XP]
I went to CONTROL PANEL\NETWORK SETUP WIZARD
Ran through the setup program, selected to store the network setup disc, selected my SD card.

[VISTA]
I go to WINDOWS VISTA, insert the SD CARD into the slot.
It loads up, I run the program inside.
I go through it all, selecting my internet through WIRELESS, etc.
At the very end of the process it says ERROR.

Why is this?

Edit: Also, my computer / printer do NOT show up on my VISTA network settings. All I see is INTERNET GATEWAY DEVICE and LAPTOP (which is showing it's own laptop; shared between users).
