Hey all,
I have bought a new toy for my self.
With alienware case, I have bought
ECS A780GM-A mobo with integrated ati HD 3200 graphics with hdmi built in
8 Gigs of RAM
1.5 TB HDD internal and 2 TB external. (2 500GB and 1 TB ext)
AMD Phenom 2 x 4 overclocked to 3.5 (from 3.2)
800w power supply
Not done with yet specially with graphic card and all but this is where I ran into alot of problems.
Unfortunately, 32 bit windows can't and won't support more then 3 GB of ram unless you do some serious and dangerous tweaking and my problem is that once I use 64bit windows my video card just dies after certain amount of time... Is there any solution to this madness?
xp x64 - shuts off immediately once I install the driver. -boots ok without the driver and in safe mode
vista ultimate x64 - works ok but shuts off at randomly and it's frustrating as hell...
I have tried latest drivers from ati-amd website already...
Any ideas besides upgrading the video card? (which will happen soon)

Did you try it all STOCK, no overclocking?
When you over clock, you also change the RAM timing, and onboard-video memory is shared with system memory, and system bios and video bios are cached to RAM as well.
So, either do not over-clock, or you need to try it with a PCIe video card.

I tried with all stock as well.. no go...

Could be a busted GPU, if it's still under warrenty then get it replaced.

I saw that one but then I would downgrading myself ( i have 3200hd) and I don't like the idea of that lol. I'm looking at 9600gt series so far...

^^^ I would go with an nvidia, if I were you. I currently have the 9600 GT, and it's great.
In your case I would go for a GTX series, however they are a bit pricey.

yea... looking at 9600gt and 9800 right now... no money for gtx right now...

I've been told that Vista 64-bit and the new Windows 7 64-bit has to be supported for devices rather than just going straight to 32-bit and ignoring 64-bit.

it says it supports x64 windows.... strange...

You using 64-bit XP? If so there might not be full support. Not got my GPU yet but it's gonna be the ATI HD3450 and should hopefully work, though I'm using Windows 7 64-bit.
