Sony told me to turn off power switch. put my finger on the button, turn switch on and hold till turns back off. Turn the Damned thing on and now i get a black screen, but tv gets signal, and no sound. I got the Video to reset on hdmi once. but still freezes before menu, after sony pro goes away. pulled hdd and says it needs one blah blah blah... QUESTION: Is my problem the motherboard?
60gb
thinking about taking to the shop to diagnose the problem. probably grew grey hair over cod5 withdraw

it's still not sending video or audio. same as hdmi:(
Sony made my problem worse! Before i could atleast get video and sound but would freeze when it reads the HDD... Could it be a virus? my modem and router shut off, then ps3 freezes. shut power off then on, then freezes before menu. thanks for the reply

no not a virus. if a virus was possible for the ps3 it would have to be hacked. ur console might just be bummed out. if you have a extra hard drive around try throwing that in see if theres a diff. if not then send it to sony

Oh yes, the PS3 does can get Viruses, and I wrote up all about it already. I won't type it all in again, but, yes it CAN get a Virus. Not on the XMB side, but through Linux or Web Browsing.

its your hard drive. if you would be able to format it, it would probably fix it.
if i were you i would just purchase a larger hdd like a 250gb or somthing and throw in it.
