Hardware revenue was up 10 percent year over year to $1.21 billion, and 14 percent over 2007's year-to-date total.

PS2 - 206, 000

The PS3 isn't quite making it here in the USA, is it?

It's pretty bad when the PS2 is not ALL that far behind the next generation platform, AND, the PSP did better.

Wow, look at the Wii and DS huh? The Wii sold more than ALL the others combined.

Xbox360 Leads Next-Gen Console Usage, PS2 Still Leads the Way

In 2008, gamers collectively spent more time with their PlayStation 2 than any other console. That's according to media research company Nielsen, whose "Top Tens" of 2008 calculated video game console usage.

Nielsen's data, which actually covers the period from January through October, found that PS2 users accounted for 31.7 percent of the total time played from all nationwide gamers. The Xbox 360 was the year's second-most popular console, with 17.2 percent of the time, followed by Wii at 13.4 percent.

Interestingly, Nielsen says that the first-gen Xbox currently sees more usage than the PlayStation 3, with 9.7 percent versus 7.3 percent, respectively. The GameCube still made the surveyors' list with 4.6 percent of total time, and an "Other" category accounts for the remaining 16.2 percent.

only reason 360 still doing that good & PS3 is lacking is because of price - thats it just price! Ps3 offers you way more & is best bluray player even if it does bring the price of the PS3 up its worth it because even if they dont care about watching movies on bluray once they see one they will care- i know i did

I don't think the price is the reason why Xbox 360 sells more than PS3.

People look at the Xbox 360 as one of them "Family" game consoles, like Wii, yet it sells more than any other system. There is also Xbox LIVE, which yes cost money, but I will freely admit it beats PSNetwork. And, another thing is the games.Xbox has a lot more popular "Exclusives" than PS3. Also it is Hacked.

I don't really agree with Xbox 360 being a family console, and Overall I would take PS3 over Xbox 360
But, The fact that PS3 is "better" than Xbox 360 is debatable.

People are also going with the XB 360 is because all they will have to pay, is the low price, then download pirated games once they have it modded. IF the PS3 were hacked, I suspect it would sell more units, however, the software end would suffer greatly.

tru but im glad the PS3 isn't hacked cause it hurt PSP software sells so we saw a big decline in games for it & i dont want it to hurt PS3 games

Sony's Hirai: Xbox 'lacks longevity'

"And with the Xbox - again, I can't come up with one word to fit. You need a word that describes something that lacks longevity," said Hirai.
"Last time I checked, they've never had a console that's been on the market for more than four or five years and we've committed to a ten year life cycle, so you do the math.
"And unless things go really bad," added Hirai, "there's no way that at the end of a life cycle our competition is going to have a higher install base."

TheBitbag asked Microsoft director of product management Aaron Greenberg his opinion, and got an earful in return. Greenberg said that it sounded like "an old hardware company that's comfortable with its market position," and that Sony is "out of touch."

Xbox 360's U.S. install base lead is up to 7 million, he can't imagine "any scenario where the PS3 can catch up with us."

"The fact is, if you doubled the current PS3 sales, and the Xbox 360 remained flat, they couldn't close the gap until 2014."

Little slow for both M$ and $ONY

PS2 still going, PSP still just trailing PS3...
