so iv been thinking about it for a week now and decided to dl ubuntu to try out my new 10 Mb/s connection. never got around to putting it on but then my room mate said he wanted it on his dead laptop, i loved it. today i go to turn on my comp and i got a blue screen of death. Perfect timing!! so now im using the live cd to backup my HDD (2 hours, 14 minutes left at a blazen 6MB/s) then ill format and patrition some of it off for a tiny xp dual boot. any sugestions for a linux noob (read the thread at psp hacks some good stuff there but all visual)

for a novice user Ubuntu would be the way to go. I prefer Redhat distros such as CentOS, fedora, etc.
also its about time you tried Linux.

i just installed ubuntu on my pc. installed 7.10 then upgraded to 8.04
now. its different installing java dvd decrypter ect... finally figured that out
any way my question is. when installing ubuntu on my PS3 i have to use Standard TV since i have no HDMI TV. now my cord i bought that allows me to run 1080i on the ps3. ubuntu will not allow me to go any higher resolution. but when i install Yellow dog it shows up on monitor in 1280X????. why doesn't ubuntu allow higher resolution ?
any ideas guys ?
