PS3-Hacks.com / Should i install Linux?

Hey guys, new here and i have a few questions regarding Linux on the PS3. I know performance is limited because Linux (AFAIK) can't access much of the PS3's hardware so should i bother with it?

My reason for dling Linux was to be able to just really surf the web and MAYBE get some emulators running such as pSX(i did read on here that isn't possible but heh worth a try)

My next set of questions is what Linux should i get. I think i was going to lean towards yellow dog 6(as i hear it was made with PS3 in mind) so should i download any of the patches that can be found here to help run it or anything?

I only have a SDTV so am i limited in anyway?

If there is a "hacked" version of Linux coming out(i heard something about using more of the GPU) which utilises more power from the PS3 i will wait.

There is no need for a HACKED version on Linux, it's free. The GPU functions that were available were fixed in updates... There is no way to hack linux to get hardware access, the PS3 itself needs hacked to provide access, as the hypervisor prevents it.

linux wasnt made to look cool, they did that to attract people to it, but linux was made to be a stable fast os.Im not sure what the current kernel size of ubuntu hardy is, but it should run decent on the shittiest rigs to this day, plus it makes great servers.
