y would sony do this

ok so when i first got my ps3 i connected my ipod touch to it and transfered my music and vids on to it but i formated my ps3 to put linux on it and forgot to back the stuff thinking i could just use my ipod again. but with the new update when i pluged my ipod in it didnt show up at first i thought the cable was loose or something but it wasn't. do you think they blocked the ipod connection because a jail breaked ipod touch can run emulations and hackers could use that as a mc exploit or something like that.

Re: y would sony do this

From his post, all he did was update the firmware on his PS3.  Nothing was mentioned that he formatted his iPod since last connected.

That's absurd...

There WILL NOT be an ISO anything for PS3 games; can't you people get that through your THICK skulls?  There was NOT an ISO load/launcher for PS2 games either!  PS1, maybe, but not for PS2 or 3, so you may as well STOP bantering on about them.

Re: y would sony do this

Dude. Youd have to have a pretty big hdd to support all the games. And with the fat32 file system you can only hold up to 4gb. So youd have to seperate the iso into parts and load that way. Which would be a pain. Possibly lag. And really unlikely. Plus if you can get passed the hypervisor then i will call you god.

We know that, You would have to use a LARGE/HUGE Fat32 formatted external drive, so you have a file size limit.

@ jio110890: I will say again, there WILL NOT be an ISO loader for PS2 or PS3 games.  There may be a HDD LOADER (totally different), that's what the NEW concept is now, where they are running certain backups; can't you READ?  PS1 games are small enough for ISO loading, but, lets get the PS3 hacked up before even THINKING about it, ok?

AS of NOW: they are not loading an ISO, it is a non .PKG FILE DUMP they claim.   You, and all the ISO LOADER hopefuls and bellyachers probably have a PSP, which is why you can't get ISO LOAD out of your brains.  No PSP game is going  to be over 4GB, in fact, a UMD is not quite half of 4GB, so it won't even be over 1.8GB.   So, you can use Memory Sicks for the ISOs, and fit TWO completely filled UMDs on a 4GB stick.

XBOX1 - Did not use ISO loading, they used the HDD loader, and dumped the files and folders to disc.

PS2 - DID NOT use ISO loading, they used a HDD loader, whichi dumped the files and folders to the HDD, just like with XB1.

The only way to get top performance on HDD backed up games is HDD LOADING, not ISO LOADING. PS3's CPU doesn't have access to enough memory to properly load, index, and navigate a 15GB (or more) Blu-ray ISO image anyway.   It only has 256MB of ram to deal with (GPU has other 256, and they are SEPARATE, not unified), and, it's going to need that for the GAMES to run at peak speeds, let alone have a portion of it to: load the program, then to load, index, and navigate an ISO?  You are going to compromise the performance of the PS3 just to get ISOs to load?  That's STUPID.  With HDD LOADING, there is no CPU or MEMORY overhead needed, because you are not using a program (that requires RAM, and CPU TIME) to LOAD, INDEX, and NAVIGATE an ISO that is going to be up in the 15+GB range.   How much or what size CHUNKS of the ISO are you going to loaded into memory at a time?  How large is this program going to be that does all this, it has to use physical RAM to execute.

What does all that mean?  Oh, yeah, There will not be am ISO LOADER for PS3 games.

so far, by readin the BD, none of them are even close to be @ maximum capicty......i  think GTA4 was only like7.2 gb...

as for the "no iso loading on ps2" how do you say that??? when i put my games on or remove them from my ps2 they are in .iso format.......when i look @ them threw ulaunch , they are .iso.......yeah i understand that they are loaded fom the HD, but .iso is a container extension, kinda lik .rar & .zip

Re: y would sony do this

i lol'd when u said ps2 doesn't use iso loaders...then what about USB advanced...it launches isos frum an external hd that is plugged in the front..like the slim ps2 that doesnt support a hd,btw u can use usb advanced 2 load isos on a fat ps2...but ur right overall...and ps1 loading would be beautiful, gotta say that! and i not a hopeful for ps3 backups but im not gonna not use it..if a hack is released for the ps3 then im not gonna shun that side of hackin  because sum ppl automatically associate it with pirating,so just clam down when sum1 mentions the word "ISO" cuz maybe they are having good intentions and just want sumthin 2 be released!i feel like when sumthing like a loader or an "unpacker that can pack" comes out intrest in this scene will explode =-O i just want a ps3 that has homebrew enabled and any other "spices" ppl can add.. smile
