So now we can run JAVA based apps in XMB right? so first off would this be considered true "homebrew" or maybe in the same boat as "Portals" on the PSP...anyway...I've also heard you can find sum JAVA emulators via google
so you think the PS3 scene is gunna get lazy and forget about exploits and expand on this?!(that would suck)..I'm sorry but i don't think iso loaders will result frum this nor an exploit..well it maybe too soon to tell..but i think it would lead 2 creative apps..

i think it will get started but no one will give up on the hacking scene.
By the way - beautiful avatar. Loved that movie too

jon- you have the best avitar, never got to that page in the change pic but ya, why would every one like an iso loader, 1. some games are too big to dl. 2. the only reason people would want this is because of free $hit. which pisses me off.

I'm very happy with this new find. Java could lead to applications and homebrew, which is exactly what I want. Although a PS2 Backup loading would be good too, just not PS3.
Off topic: What's that movie in your avatar, jio? When I saw it I said, looks like a good movie, then I saw JoN complementing it, so I'm asking for the name lol.

lmao everyone in my clan (my VAJ clan, and we all know wut it stands for) has those circle ones and theres conveniently 5 members (all of which my friends from school) and 5 of those pictures
by the way, the movie is obviously THE DARK KNIGHT (or the new Batman) and that would be the joker / heith ledger.
JAVA will help with homebrew games and I think it will be funny to make games off JAVA since a lot more people know how to program java than actual games so more creativity will be found.

::ontopic::I know emulators will result but i have read around in JAVA forums and people are constantly having problems with them...so i hope this would be different news for the PS3

its such a jokes name to use ![]()
and also, yea, we dont exactly "buy that ticket", we sorta bot another movie and walked in...
<<--on topic-->>
maybe theres a certain code that was made when making that game that was not really noticed and that code is essential in making them run properly.

yeah it was that hdcookbook if im not mistaken. if anyone has a clue it would be easy for them to use this to create their own irc for this website, which would be accessible the same way as the game is.
Offline
Well...its kinda hard for an employee to "sneak" into another theater when everyone knows you...but i did catch a glimpse of it yesterday...
and howcome it seems so sloppy on Sonys part to leave the ps3 to run it via XMB?!?!i mean it should've been somewat complicated like....linux or sumthing...but via XMB??maybe sony noticed this and has ran through this...making sure no exploits will come of this.

Offline
Even if it didn work, people could develop them via the ps3 web browser and run java games of that couldn't they? Plus, I don't think JAVA could exploit anything other than the ability for user creativity.
Offline
i think sony meant for this to happen, i read somewhere that they were looking to bring back bedroom programming, something similar to the demo disc on the ps2.

im sorry but im just kinda feeling low on hope for this scene because its been forever since the PS3 has been out and we havent gotten any homebrew run...and the wii has a custom IOS released!!Seriously WTF!!!and now Bushing has found an exploit in which will allow him 2 run burned dvds on an unmodified console...When will it be our turn.. ![]()
i dont care about an iso loader...i just want 2 see more effort frum this community..I know people are tryin but the fakes overshadow the truth, only good truth i ever really heard was that DAX took interest in the debug firmware..thats pretty much it...im sorry if my opinion offends

Nah your quite right in what you say, i for one also dont care about playing backup games (although it would be nice to test before buying, e.g. fifa again). However im far more interested in the ps3's capabilitys and what we could possibly use it for. For example XBOX1 you can do everything with it, it doesnt have alot of processing power or memory (unless you solder it on and change the processor) but still that just o.t.t but it allowed us to explore the entire system, much more interesting than playing games tbh.

If you want to test a game, Blockbuster or your equivalent doesn't charge that much for a game.

The whole idea of testing games is to release a demo.
However, the problem with this (fifa one of them) is that the game is altered before release so in turn the demo then becomes its own game.
The demo of fifa 08 was excellent compared the final release.
To spend £5 is rediculous when i should be able to get a "sample" of the actual game for free.

so have any java apps been made since this has been found

So you're saying that because someone made a game, you are entitled to download and play it for however long you want with out paying a Pennie? I agree that the devs should release demos that accurately portray the game, but if they choose not to, what gives you the right to rip off their hardwork?

Where did i say "im entitled to download and play it for however long i want with out paying a Pennie?"
You have completely got the wrong end of the stick. What im saying is, why should i rent a full game, when a demo is supposed to give you a taster for free.
I did not say i should be able to play the demo for ever for free did i?
I also said that i dont like it when developers release a demo, which turns out not to be like the final release. This is not ripping off their hardwork at all. Im saying that the demo then becomes its own game.
Jeez next time stop jumping the gun and read what is actually put.

Uh just throwing this out there....But if we could get an emulator to work with JAVA (not saying it will) wouldn't we have to have the emu and the ROM (game) all together cause it wouldn't be able to access the flash drive/HDD. So for each game we want to emulate we would need a separate emu... Sounds not fun. I'll stick to PS3 games anyway. NES is a little old. Plus I can run it on my computer and use my PS3 controller.

or maybe a huge app containing the roms...would sound like a big piracy no no...but then we could probably have a workaround by having 2 "inject" it sumhow into the app...but thats like way 2 much 2 even think about..
