I realise this has been posted already but my tutorial will show you how to use the controller on vista, not just XP like the other tutorial.
Your controller won't look like this ^ ![]()
Ok here we go..
1)Download this package (click)
2) Extract the package somewhere on your PC using WinRAR
3) Plug in the controller to your PC using the USB cable that came with the PS3.
4) Press the PS button.
5) Go to the extracted package and run libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe
6) Wait for it to install, at the end uncheck the "run test app" option and press finish.
7) run the ps3sixaxis_en.exe
8) Press the home button.
Ok your all done, your controller should work, even on windows vista. If you want to test it do these additionnal steps:
1) Go to start>settings>control panel.
2) Then press Game Controllers.
3)Select PLAYSTATION(R) 3 Controller and press properties.
3) press the test tab and press the PS button.
4) When you press diferent buttons or move the analog sticks, different numbers will light up and the bars will move up and down, like this:

So much easier on Vista because it automatically detects it as a gamepad.

sorry to ask this but can i do this without having to confirm the installation program that it is safe on vista?

I tried this, and I even tried putting the ps3sixaxis_en in the system 32, and I keep getting an error message from windows. Anybody know how I can fix this?

i get the same problem on vista x64. i installed the package but it doesn't change anything. it is under the game pad section and is listed as OK status but it doesn't do anything when you try to test the button or calibrate it.

has anyone gotten this to work on Windows Vista 64 bit?

64bit support would be golden. Some of us like going balls to the wall and have Vista64 and this seems to be the only downfall.

Same problem here. Running Vista Business 64. Automatic driver installation, the comp finds the controller, but pressing the PS button does nothing, and like you said calibrating or testing buttons does not work.

We know it doesn't work. You did not have to register just to tell us that.

So I know i just registered and you guys are going to jump at me for reporting the same thing as the people above and blah blah blah... but I have Vista Home premium... and with my understanding that is 32 bit, yet I'm having the same problems. I get it to recognize but once i test it nothing lights up, yet it says its ok. So go ahead and yell at me for reporting the same problem... but I like I said I have 32 bit vista, so its a different situation. All help is appreciated, and I have been fiddling around with this forever, so please save my time of posting how dumb I am or just to unplug and replug or just press PS button...
Thank You,
Comrade

completely uninstall the drier and try again. That's how I had to get it to work on my WinXP 32 bit

Is uninstalling it from the programs list acceptable means? Cause I've done that many times also... but never though of searching for the driver in my devices manager. Though actually I'm doing that right now, and cant find the LIB in any of the devices. Like I said I've done it many times through the programs and features list, is there maybe a different way?

Hi, new to the forum BTW.. but I was able to get a controller to install with my vista but now I'm wondering if I can use it in such a way as a mouse.

Go to device manager and uninstall the driver from there.
