Ok, so one of my computers got infected with a virus(Adware) from the Vundo family - Virtumonde. First off, I'm not a complete noob with computers so don't jump off at me. No idea how I got the virus probably from d/l things but thats besides the point.
Anyway, so I found my copmuter unable to load web pages (everything but the homepage), and updates were not allowed to be processed e.g. Norton. I have had this before and knew what it was so I booted into safe mode and looked up some guides and programs that are supposed to be "fail-proof", but they don't work for beans. Now, starting to get a little frustatrated I'm asking you for help. So if anyone has a completely "fail-proof" guide or program they could share with me it would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks.

Well if you just noticed this happening recently just do a system restore. Thats what i always did when i fracked up my computer. Ive had to install windows over 5 times btw. I think i used my activation code over 10 times (On other computers). I cant believe its still active.

So does your ani-virus/spyware give you the locations of the files? Have you tried to manually delete the files not using the anti-* programs?
Offline
thats if you can find the darn things even anti-v n spyware sometimes cant find em n when you delete the files sometimes they dont go away because they've encrypted into the system and spreaded.

you have really post whored up the forum haven't you? 124 posts in 6 days wtf!
I some what agree with you though. Some viruses will be found but can't be deleted through anti-virus programs and even manually. I have had to go as far of using a live CD, mounting the NTFS partition, and then deleting tose damn things that way. Sometimes it is just best to back up all your data and start from scratch.

Well, I tried a system restore but my Restore points were clear. I think it might be from the Virtumonde, but I didn't think it did that. And, I wanted to advoid reinstalling Windows.

Is your computer working fine now?

Nah, I just use my laptop now, lol. I'll fix it when I got around to it, probably later this month when I'm done with school.

This is the second time its happened to me, so redundant. I don't even know what its from. And yes, Norton sucks ass... I'm not sure what I'm gonna do yet, might just end up paying for someone to do it for me I'm to lazy, lol.
The most annoying part is that I got a program that is supposedly "The Quick Fix"... Quick Fix my ass, all it did was make it worse. It found the virus and deleted it but didn't completed get rid of it. So, it didn't get rid of all of it, and it still doesn't work. I got a system32 error upon startup.
ps3_hacker1234- The program is PC Tools Spyware Doctor if you wanted to try it.

Your gonna have to reinstall windows. Or use your windows XP CD and repair your system files using that.
