Yeah, but I don't think they can really resize the PS3 like that. Think how much it would heat up.
No, no, no... With the PSU external, that eliminates 20% to 30% of the head generated by the power regulators (black transistors with the metal tops, 3-legs, and black square bodies), go ahead, touch one.... PSUs generate a LOT OF HEAT!
Also, with 45nm CPU and GPU, the power requirements are much lower, the WATTAGE, and the WATTAGE is what creates the heat. With the 45nm process, the devices will be faster by design, but throttled back to their original Ghz, so thus even LESS power is used.
Those type of Transistors are also used in regulating power to the CPU and GPU. They get hot, the C/GPU gets hot, so you have HOTNESS.... Well, with an external supply, you save, and with smaller die sizes, and lower power requirements, 50% less power regulators, so you save... IT can be done, no doubt in my mind...

Yeah, they are at 65nm, but the 45nm process is in the works, and the Valhalla version of the Xbox360 is supposed to have the unified CPU/GPU with each die at the 45nm process, 65nm FOR SURE. M$ never changes the size of it's case, but will reduce overhead like that.
The EE was 240 mm˛ die. I could not find the DIE size of the GS, but the original PS2, noth were the same visual size, so it was probably the same.
The SLIMs had two types of a unified GS+EE chip, with a external 12V power supply, which made it easily adapted for cars.
Here are PICS of the history of the EE, GS, then EE+GS...
PS2 before the SLIM!![]()

SLIM MODEL:![]()
Older EE+GS does not incorporate system memory in Older Charcoal Black Slim PS2s. (SCPH-70001).
NEWER SLIM MODEL:
Newer ASIC design that incorporated the EE+GS, AND system memory, are found in silver slim PS2s (Model SCPH-79000).
SO, why did the first PS3s with hardware compatibility have the HUGE EE chip? Who knows, because that package above housed BOTH, with the system ram. They were an ASIC design, which costs twice as much to make. See, this is why M$ tried to save 10s of millions with a non ASIC design for the GPU, and then ended up with a BILLION dollar recall campaign! My guess, is SONY needed to save some money by using an NON ASIC MFR... Then saved more by using software emulation later, then MORE by eliminating all the PS2 hardware from the PS3.
So, SLIM PS3? Sure, LONG, but SLIM...

You surprise me. Do you have a hardware-related job, or work with Sony or something?
My life IS technology, and I make sure I know it.
I just YAHOO the pictures I need, then link them for you, and explain them. IT's nothing you or ayone else can't do yourself, really... I just know how to get it FASTER than most people.
I am very intelligent, can't say SMART, 'cause everyone says "My friend's smart!" There is a difference between the two, the Air Force can explain it to you... Basically, it's SMART people learn, Intelligent people help the SMART people learn... However, you gotta be Smart before you can become Intelligent. Intelligent people invent from scratch, where as smart people reverse engineer and reinvent... Where as I invented it, you learn to use it, then know how it works, to alter it to work how YOU want. Where as, I could do that anytime I want, as I invented it... Yes, lots of rhetorical nonsense..

It's not rhetorical, I understood perfectly what you meant. I didn't know what was the exact meaning of a smart person and an intelligent person.
But I found a contradiction in your post. You said you're not smart, you're intelligent, yet you have to be smart to be intelligent. Therefore; you are both smart and intelligent? Or you where smart, but now you are intelligent?

my trainers are faster than yours, can we please stop now

Actually, I happened to be born intelligent. For some reason, I can look at something and KNOW how it works, or if it doesn't, then know what is wrong with it.... It just comes to me, some people have natural abilities... I see things other people don't, or can't, and it's just freaky... I was able to see a crack in a small relay that someone OF THE PROFESSION missed, which is why the thing did not work. I am very good at spotting what's wrong with stuff, for some reason... I do not know why, or for what rhyme or reason, but I should be making millions a year, instead just a few hundred thousands.... I am irritated at myself for not being able to work for M$ or Sony, because I got what it takes, but I don't have the SHEEP SKIN to prove it, and that's all. Why was I given this ability, to waste on mundane applications? Beats me, but I have a gift, so I use it one way or another.

you should go work for Sony haha. They probably wouldn't let you because you're the admin of PS3-Hacks forum though.
