I recently installed a PS3 with a new home theatre and have had trouble with 5.1 functioning properly. Signal chain is as follows:
PS3>Denon AVR 3808ci>Samsung FTP 5084
The Denon recognizes it is receiving a digital audio signal, and my DVD player operates properly with Dolby Digital (have yet to try DTS, I'm assuming it works). Yet for some reason the centre channel produces no audio when I'm using the PS3 to play games.
Any help?

Are you using optical digital out or HDMI out (pcm 5.1)? Also did u check sound settings and have DTS and DD ticked for (optical out)?

I am not having any issues with regular 5.1 anywhere, but DTS is not working on my PS3, but is ok with my HD-DVD player, Samsung Upconverting player, and Xbox360...

I prefer Dolby digital rather than DTS. Majority of games and movies these days have a Dolby Digital sound mix. Btw Powerslave what amp are you running for ur surround sound? A lil off topic but would like to know.

I have a Pioneer 718K. I have DVDs with DTS sound tracks. DTS is uncompressed completely separated audio, and sounds MUCH better than DD5.1. I also have some DVDs with DTS EX and NEO6. When I use my HD-DVD player, or my regular Samsung DVD player, and chose the DTS track in audio setup for ANY of my DVDs that suport it; I get the RED "DTS" indicator on the AMP. Well, I never do with the PS3...
I read the PS3 specs, it is supposed to support it, but I do not get it through the Optical port. I do plan up upgrading my SS unit with ones that have HDMI unputs...

OK gentlemen I changed the BD/DVD Settings so that the HDMI audio settings are set to PCM Linear, then I changed the surround sound mode for the PS3 input on the receiver. Now everything works fine.
