I know I made a topic about this before and I fixed the problem thanks to foxer, but this time the same thing happened while I was playing Call of Duty 3,the same game as before with my ps3.I tried everything from before,I also used my keyboard and tried to restore settings so that I may register a number for my controller,my ps3 wont assign a number to any controller, not even after I bought a new one.I turned the console on and off, tried again and it wouldnt do the registering. The thing is that Im stuck in the "connect the controller using a USB cable, andthen press the PS button." screen.I already tried with 3 different controllers but none would register a number.I turned the main power on and off with the same results.I also tried with all controllers in diferent USB ports. The "install blue tooth device" didnt recognized my controllers also.
Honestly I dont know what else to do,I cant think of anything else that would possibly help,SONY store refused to help me with my problem(edit:The employes didnt knew much about the system). If I change my ps3 I will have to wait till next year's shipment. If any of you guys have any ideas of what I can do to fix this then please let me know. This is the second time this happened but apparently worst. The dam thing has me desparate because I wasted 50 dollars extra on another controller plus a keyboard. Its weird that the same thing happened twice like this.
Im lost...
600$ hurt alot, doesnt it.I just hope I didnt get one of the messed up ones. *sigh*
Just the thought of wasting 600$ on a messed up ps3 is depresing.
This is the link to my previous topic...hehe

the only thing i can think of is that you are running the controller dead. are you periodically checking the battery charge by holding the "PS" button for a few seconds? you should see a little battery indicator on the screen, looks like a cell phone's battery indicator. try plugging it into your PS3 and leaving it for an hour or so and then try it.

I really wish that work, the ps3 controller starts lighting as in charging but the ps3 wont recognize the controller. Thanks though.

hmm...well the manual says that the rapid blinking means that battery is almost dead, so if they blink for 15 minutes then stop i would assume that meant that they completely died. that still doesn't explain why you can't control the PS3 when you have them plugged in with the USB cable though. That's a weird one. Have you tried a different USB cable? A bad cable would certainly explain it, unable to charge so they're not working, unable to talk to the PS3 properly.
You can use just about any USB cable, for instance the one that comes with any Sony camera will work. Also, i tried plugging mine into my PC and not only did Windows instantly recognize it as a PS3 controller, but it charges it as well (new hack?). Maybe try that, because if your PC doesn't recognize it I would say either bad cable or bad controller. If it does work then charge it on your PC for a while then try it on your PS3.

I found one more thing, it's a longshot but here it is. on the back of the controller there is a small reset button. it's located on the main body (not the handles) in the top left corner, directly above the top left corner of the Sony sticker on the back. try pressing that and see what happens.

I saw it. ^_^
But it didnt work. *sigh*
Apparently the console is the problem, not the controls. And yet the USB ports work with any USB device except a ps3 controler. I know, its really confusing.

sounds like its the six axis
Offline
Could be,but what really got me thinking is that I tried with 3 diferent six axis controllers and they all had the same result. Honestly I've come to the conclution that Sony gave me a messed up ps3(I think).
Thats why I called them yesterday to see If I get a reply from them.If they refuse to fix it I could take legal action agaisnt them. *evil laugh*
jk =p
But this looks like an internal problem in the system to me.

yeah sounds like you have exhausted all of the possibilities other than it being your ps3. hopefully though, it's a known issue and there's a firmware update in the works to fix it.
