Don't snap at ppl like that. Especially when I AGREE with them!!!
AND yes i am snapping at you. NO I'm not a hypocrite. Call me what you will I don't care. I'm just in the mood for yelling and ranting and it's best done to ppl I can't harm. Get over it. I'm sorry

First of all, I didn't snap at him, I'm being reasonable and realistic with him, if you or him didn't take that well, then don't let this turn into a flame war if you want to be taken seriously. Sony is running fine and selling at a reasonable prize, just because you cant afford it doesn't make it unreasonable. That is why I'm telling him to do some research on why the ps3 is that prize, if thats what hes referring to.

Yeah, try the tutorial section.
PS, hackers will never make it run natively.

Yea, I think its impossible, only emulation. They say it runs slow.

I'm sure they care. But, the only thing is PSN is free but the downloadable games aren't, On Xbox360 you have to pay to play online, but he games are free.
What exactly do you mean by ''games are free''? which ones are free on xbl? sure you have trials and demos but that's pretty much it...

OMG why are you starting this up again?

what i'd like to see is sony hold a conference for the best hackers out there to design a system better then the XMB.
The problem is that they're taking some of our ideas but adapting them to a OS thats not all that good. I hate to admit it, but i'm a fan of the360 OS. What I'd really like to see are controllers with the game saves in them. Or a Network ID/Username/PSN account tied into the controller that kept stats. Like yo take your controller to a buddie's house and play some good Unreal Tournament and instead of having to re-make your character your controller has it saved. Your stats save to the controller. So you can then take them back home.
The best way to descrie is to use Halo as an example. (I've been a PS owner since christmas of the year the original PS released, so this is going to be tough) I've been playing Halo3 with my firneds on my days off before they have to head into their midnight shift at their work for about 2-3 hours at a time. You can colour your guy, make him look snazzy and whatnot. I'd buy a 360 controller (remember, I don't own a 360) just so I could save my dude and bring him up on my buddy's 360 every time i went over there to play.
"Well, you do, it's saved on his 360" yeah... but we play at 3 different houses. 3 Different 360s... I'd love to just be able to play on whatever 360 I wanted and use my Username, my character and keep my stats.
Now back to PS land. I wish the PS3 had this on controller memory chip in it. Really personalize the accessories with your system.
After that long rant... the topic i'm trying to say is that whilist the XMB is cool. It's just not cutting it. I'm impressed with the simplicity. And I understadn that HOME is an answer to those who want a little more personality in their menu-ing.. but i'd like an actual OS. You pause the game and this side bar comes in... (like the 360) where you can do that custom soundtrack... choose your player... and bunch of other randomness.
Like i've said before, HOME in theory is awesome... it's just too much of a night and day when comparing it and the XMB. Let's look for something in between... something that isn't in it's 3rd beta test, and it already 3 months late from the original release date.
We know what we want in a system, and it's one thing to talk about stuff we want. I'm sure we could send SCE a letter with requests, most would be laughed at and discarded. But if we took hses hackers that are trying to hack the PS3 and turn them into guys who are making demos of the stuff we're looking for and send them to sony, they'd relalize that we put forth effort into premaking the additions we're looking for.
Half the stuff sony was adding to their PSPs in firmware updates were stuff that Hackers added. but of course they won't respond to the stuff well if it's being used in a bad way. ISO loaders will never be legal. But they do exist. What do you think that PSN games are? They're similar to ISO files in the sense that they're not on disk... you download them to your PS3 and play them without needing a disk. They just charge you some sum to make the game worth their while.
I'm going to try and teach myself some more advanced coding (i only know HTML, DHTML, XHTML, small bit of Java, C++, Flash Actionscript). I know it won't get me anywhere, people study for years the programming needed to make this software ,but atleast it'll get me further then sitting on a message board complaining that "Sony Suxors, Haxors rulez!" And who knows, maybe something will be added into a firmware in he future... if it's even one small widget.. that'll be enough for me.
So I agree with the maker of this thread... Let's stop the hacking and promote the production of an awesome system.

This is just an open invite for flame wars isn't it?

@MardiDobson
Yea, I agree, we could use a little something better than the XMB, personally, similar to those of the Video-On Demand (for ps3) found in Europe. I don't have a link to show but I'll be sure to look for one. Anyhow, yes, I would like a few more widgets such as a CLOCK showing when you press the PS button, moving the Notifications to the bottom of the screen (similar to 360's) so it does not cover the News Bar (came with FW 2.00). Personally, I think the best idea could be use HOME as the main menu. For instance, walk to your ps3 to play a game, go to your little labtop for options, cd for music, tv for videos, scrapbook for pictures...I could go on. This could all take place in your little apartment. Once your ready to leave, you can exit and go to wherever you want. However, limit those features for those who come to your apartment. For instance, if a friend comes to your apartment, he can only see the video you have selected to play on your tv, however, he can check which game you currently have in your ps3, but he cannot play it. I know, it sounds like a random idea, but I think it sounds pretty sick. Now, I don't know exactly how every icon (found on the ps3) could represent something, but I think it's a start.
@Code Red
No, now the flaming will start

I feel you on this in some ways, i have always hacked the psp and was goin ape sh*t with it! but i think its time for me to start givin back to sony and start to help them out, i mean they did MAKE THE F***ING PS3!!!! props sony but yea, but i am not givin up hackin the ps3 or the psp cuz hacks are hacks and hackin is fun if u know codes(0,1...hex code...etc)but yea i would love to give back to sony just to help them.
Offline
let me just reply to the title: NO! sony doesn't realise what their systems are capable of, they don't utilise them to their fullest extent, which is EXACTLY what i am doing on the PSP. not talking bout ISOs and stuff, that would be considered stealing. i'm talking about stuff like emulators and shell replacements, and of course the handy tools which have been released over the years (by hackers, i might add)
Offline
Ah man i hate this "No i dont want to use ISOs" BS.I want to play all good games there for i hack my Consoles but i payed 3 up to 5 games per year befor i use downloaded ISOs and know i also buy 3 up to 5* games per year.So no one (not me and not $ony,M$ or Nintendo) have lost something Money. If every Software pirat would be understand this logical.........
go right ahead and keep padding the pockets of these greedy corporate asswipes. people wouldnt be out there pirating if they priced their wares at a resonable level.
Yop im completely agree with you ![]()
Best demo are the Wii games.Such a lot of terrible games and all will cost 60€ in comparsion to a 360 game like GoW,CoD4,ME and a lot more what would be also cost 60€.And if you rember back to the first 8bit Nintendo and SEGA the games also have cost 60€.
Today i realize what a big racket they have made with us.So f*** of the Concerns....
*Now than im older some years i buy up to 15 games.I buy it,play it to end and sell it over ebay or anything else...........100% circle of life - no one will loose something.Pirates, think about it ![]()

Wow!, you have no idea how to hack, o,1, hex code? l0l, not to mention from your grammar your most likely are 10 years old or very uneducated. Seriously I bet you use the easy installers for your psp, you know, the ones that people make using physical basics 1, and then your just a regular leecher that uses it and claims to have these skills.
I'll tell you this right now, "hacking" like you think is an underground procedure that is not welcome to just anyone, or has special infosites hidden in google's subframe to hide it from the public user that knows nothing of it. Seriously man, 0,1? hexcode? Here I'll define: this zero and one you speak of is the internal kernel in which "DOS" runs off of, and an operating system is set upon that for visuals so that general users that don't have the knowledge to learn on the specific key entries themself can simply click an "easy I wanna go there tab"
Definition for hex code is the following: Hex code is used mainly in html webpage to refer to a specific color command. Oh and next time be more specific on which you mean Hexadecimal or Hexadecimal hub, either way both have nothing to do with hacking. I hope I didn't offend you, I just hate it when people lye like this. I don't spend time studying different codes for some noob to spam my thread and lye about something he is oblivious too.
Oh and also what has happened to my thread? Totally off subject.

homebrew helps to sell systems so I am for it

Offline
I personally like the whole homebrew scene for a few reasons:
1) You can find out alot more information about your system from custom apps and show its full potential.
2) Instead of trying sh*tty demos to see what a game is like and then the full game turns out nothing like the demo and youve ended up wasting £40 - £50. I would like to try the full game through ISO, if its sh*t it will be removed. If its great il go buy it and show my appreciation and also for the previledge of owning a good game.
3) Homebrew isnt all bad in the respect that it can be very knowledgable, you can learn alot about technology from it.
I am not however saying people who pirate games are wrong. I personally feel that paying £40 - £50 is a complete rip off.
And also like the post above says.. there will be thousands of people waiting for a mod-chip/soft-mod for the PS3 and then go and purchase one. This will increase sales.

Well with homebrew comes the people who illegally pirate games and play them. Can't have both, I change my thoughts. I don't want the sony online to be ruined by cheaters. I don't want homebrew because it will ruin my pleasure along with others also.
Offline
Hmmm...maybe the ps3 is too good, maybe it just simply doesnt need hacks, Im good with using a different OS with emulators as they released already. lol

homebrew n piracy will happen on the ps3 whether u ppl like it or not
Offline
um just to throw my side of it out there being in the working class I don't have the money to run around and buy all these games. A quarter of the gaming population ripping and burning games isn't going to hurt the video game industry. They go home to big ass houses and all sorts of things and there paycheck isn't harmed by me using homebrew and burnt games. If it was hurting it do you think the ps3 would be released right now?

The context of this thread is confusing. They say they shun homebrew. I guess they're referring to BD-J and Linux RSX support.
On a related subject, I'd like to introduce these 'aww poor millionaire' people to the people at the companies from the desk clerk up to the CEOs. They're degenerates with cut throat personalities(quite literally) who couldn't care less what your name is, and if you're in a ditch on fire.
The same goes for anything, a car salesman or a stripper aren't really your friends; exercise your right to be rational. They profit off you, you're not a name to them, and most of the finances go into executive bonuses and such which end up isolated in some poorly audited account of some wealthy asshole.
What the auto industry executives did to destroy there companies is being done in every industry. They're greed machines plain and simple. Even that desk clerk is plotting to screw someone to get a promotion.
It pissed me off when that mom in Michigan got a prison sentence, and her kids put in foster care, cause one of the kids downloaded literally a few music files. We're in a state of corporate governance, and nobody is gonna help you survive it for free- thus it's not going away.
Also, would it be considered irony that almost all the hippies became corporate tyrants on some level? I think the extreme minority who didn't, got the frak out of industrialized countries. The 'nintentdo generation' are the byproduct of drug induced good times, and carelessness, who exactly is suppose to have the wisdom these days? All the older generations are either burnouts, or fall into the above mentioned demographics.
