PS3 Theme Manager: GUI Front end for sony's theme compiler

PS3 Theme Builder 2.0 has been released!
And I wasn't drinking too much egg nog when I updated the feature list this time.
This tool is a comprehensive package that allows you to create and modify PS3 themes in a GUI.  This eliminates the need to modify the theme XML manually.

The current version can be downloaded from here: http://www.Lili-Chan.com

Version 2.0 Release notes:

    * Fixed the bug that was causing the application fail for some users on startup.
    * Finished refactoring code, app should be faster, less memory hogging now.
    * Added support for localized versions of the software (Curently french, Spanish, German and Japanese should be supported more to come later).
    * Added ability to cycle through the backgrounds during Test Drive (Press B).
    * If you have no backgrounds defined, a default background is displayed (looks like the XMB) using the color defined in the theme.
    * Press F9 to cycle colors while in test drive.
    * Added ability to save the current test drive view as the preview.
    * All icons can now be deleted.
    * Local information is fully supported now.
    * A creator icon can be created for each supported language.
    * A theme icon can be created for each supported language.
    * Pointer Hotspots and icons fully functional.
    * Theme Extractor fully functional
    * Fixed a bunch of other bugs.

To use this tool you must do the following:

1.  Install the Microsoft .Net framework 2.0 which can be found here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta … laylang=en

2.  Download and unzip Sony's custom theme builder to a directory of your choice.  Sony's custom theme builder can be found here http://www.us.playstation.com/Content/P … v101-E.zip

3.  Download My PS3 Theme Manager and unzip the file PS3ThemeManager.exe to the same directory that you unzipped Sony's theme builder software to.

4.  Run PS3ThemeManager.exe

Version 1.4 New features are:
    * Multiple bug fixes.
    * Created Test Drive Mode
    * Fixed an issue where the background color was not displaying properly
    * Fixed the issue that caused the HD background to get set to the SD background.

Version 1.3 New Features Include:

    * Multiple bug fixes.
    * Added support for custom pointers
    * Added an additional Preview
    * Updated Preview Descriptions
    * Changed the "PS" preview to "PS3"
    * Added support for the Notification Window
    * Added a cool program Icon, supplied by iRockHard

You can find it on http://www.lili-chan.com

Features planned for version 1.4:
   -- Additional preview options.
   -- Code refactoring
   --  Additional Error trapping (and friendlier messages to end users)

Known Issues:
   -- Although you can set the font using the software, you can not preview the font yet.
   -- If you select an icon image with the same name as an existing icon image in your
      theme directory, it will be overwritten by the new icon.

New features added in version 1.1:
   -- Support for adding multiple backgrounds
   -- Localization info support
   -- Minor Bug fixes
   -- Multiple Generate preview options.

Re: PS3 Theme Manager: GUI Front end for sony's theme compiler

"...but you can't preview the font, yet."

You did a great job on this tool, and I appreciate that you are so quick to implement new features.

Thank you.

Suggest to greg, the administrator, to host this program on this site.

I can't tell; are there specific instructions that new individuals follow when entering?
Actually, that couldn't work; they don't follow or read any directions given; it must be instinctive.

Like I said before, this is a great tool. Makes it really easy to make a P3T from scratch. Thanks sbcroix.

Re: PS3 Theme Manager: GUI Front end for sony's theme compiler

All right, I had to release a new version before i was ready, so V1.2 is now available.  This fixes an issue that prevented people from creating partial themes.

I also added a new preview type.  You can still get the latest version (1.2) @ http://www.lili-chan.com, and I am sure that the admis here will update their files when they get a chance.

Re: PS3 Theme Manager: GUI Front end for sony's theme compiler

Can you get me a screen shot or copy / paste of the error?
I suspect it has something to do with the code I am using to detect if USB drives have been inserted to the system, but I can not get a repro on this issue.

P.S. I have uploaded 1.5 to the website for people having issues with 1.6.

Damn MS is a bunch of jerks

Ok, Try this for me

Open the temp folder on your computer for your profile, you can do this by going to start>run and typing %tmp% and pressing enter

Select the very last item in the temp folder

Launch the theme builder software, you should get the crash and you will see a new file appear with a bunch of numbers and a file extension of .dmp

Right click the file, choose properties, and then check the read only box.
Press ok
It will look like it's hung, so go back to the error reporting dialog and press dont send

At this ppoint the file should still exist and the file properties dialog should be gone.
Just zip that file up and mail it to me @ sexxyman@hotmail.com

Thanks

Re: PS3 Theme Manager: GUI Front end for sony's theme compiler

Test Drive is cool!  Thanks.
But when I try to compile it says I'm missing MSVCP71.dll.  I have MSVCRP71.dll and I tried renaming it to the one I'm missing and it says I'm missing that one so I guess I need both.  I re-downloaded the compiler from Sony and what I need isn't in there.  Any ideas?

I FIXED IT
I just D/l the missing .DLL from the internet.  A simple google search for the missing file gave it to me.

Re: PS3 Theme Manager: GUI Front end for sony's theme compiler

Hello All,

I had a question, with the hopes that someone can lend me a hand. I used p3textractor to extract a p3t file, I found, but found no .xml file. I downloaded a different p3t file, and did the same, with the same result.

So, I suppose my question is how do you Load and edit an existing p3t file that doesn't have an .xml file?

Yup, menu sound effects.  Just like in the ratchet and Clank theme.
