I personally think the psp - ps3 link up is a wasted opportunity at the moment! So if your buying it to use with your ps3 then i would say don't waste your money!

Well, I wasn't going to buy it for the PS3, I just put it here cause there were I thought it should go.

I use my psp much more than I do my ps3. half of the fun of psp is just hacking it: changing the xmb, fonts, getting different applications... the list goes on. You can emulate any system up to ps1 and N64 (I dont know how good the ps1 emulator is, but i know the N64 is running at about half speed with no sound, but you can turn sound on). And like Notorious-Pimp said, its great if your on the road alot.
Some advice: get a psp with firmware of 3.5 or lower so you can hack it

yes u should and be sure to get the slim its gonna be better w/ longer lasting battery more RAM so u have faster load times and i think i heard something about downloading games to it(legally thru sony)
and my most faveorite feature thats gonna be on it is that there gonna have an adapter so u could hook it up to a tv and play i cant wait to to get the slim... but my fatty psp wont be forgoten

I wouldn't agree with rxpapi12, simply because it will take a lot longer to hack that version of the psp. ofcourse, if your not planning on hacking your psp, and will be using it for strickly gaming, video, music and the internet, then i would go with the newer version, knowing that I wont be able to hack for a long time.

Well I'm definitely going to hack it, so I might as well get the old one.

I think so, they're a lot of to have and play with. I'd suggest picking up Killzone Liberation first, It's one of my favorite games on the PSP. Oh, and make sure you get a Logitech PlayGearPocket to keep it safe.

So say if I want to get a PSP, what should I be looking for? I want to mod it, what firmware should I get? Is there a firmware ver locate on the box? And I want to get a brand new one.

try to get one off ebay with cfw pre installed cos all the hacking stuff is already done for ya

Yea but I want it brand new, hey is it possible to play PSP games through your PS3, I mean I wanna see it on TV.

Get a decent sized 4Gig Memstick aswell. That can hold any "Item" you might want to put on it. Make sure it's produo though. Also, you might wanna get another Official Sony Battery if you're gonna downgrade it yourself, IF you're doing the Pandora Way.
