Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

My View of the topic is that some game run better off the memory stick than off the UMD, example Lego Starwars 2 loading times are rubbish off the UMD but off the mem stick it is like the Computer one

Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

NO! Your all missing the point of it all. You dont get it.

Hacking consoles is not going to affect the company in any way and is NOT stealing. Using home-made software in a hacked console is not illegal, once you purchase a console it no longer belongs to Sony because you own it.

homebrew are not illegal and neither is hacking a console, however uploading and downloading pirated copies of their games is because there are limitations to your rights over such media contents.

Do not confuse them. Also r4p1d does have a valid point,if this research in the ISO loader is successful it will be the end of the ps3,Ive known that since the beginning. This is NOT a PSP...

Read your license agreement again, the next time you update the firmware....

Microsoft has just raided SEVERAL modding facilities across the USA, and took their consoles back, the FEDS took other stuff.  You do not own the console, EVER, read the entire language of the license agreements.

If you do not agree to the terms, you take the console back, and get your money back....

Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

That's what Powerslave is talking about. If you read the terms and conditions which i believe 99.9% of ps3 users don't even read cause it's like a 1000 word essay that nobody is interested in. Hence getting the firmware update asap then your violating their copyright law.

The ps3 YOU own, but the FIRMWARE that comes with is is solely Sony's property. Without the firmware there is no such thing as a XMB or Home or ps store. It's like a laptop with no OS installed.

Vipah's right! Part of our PS3 isn't exactly ours... No wonder they wanted to talk to booster for modding Firmwares...

Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

My point is,powerslave, that making the XMB waves shiny and wave faster is not a crime that you would go to jail for.. But thanks for pointing that out though. I didnt read the agreements becuse I already read em in the first update..though I dont remember a word... lol

Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

uh homebrew doesnt mean pirated games........... wii has VC, so if you download a game via the web and you put it on a sd card the wii doesnt read it.  just because you can play other games than what the system was made for doesnt automatically mean your getting isos and free roms.

^uh right?

but honestly i dont giv two ****s out of a rats @ss about homebrew

Not sharing games with others users on the psn for instance.

everything seemed right except i think they encourage sharing since ur able to download purchased game 5times

and for the psp the thing that pisses me off the most is sony still hasnt put in a custom tracks feature so u could listen to ur own music in game
i know w/ homebrew u can but i want sony to puut that feature on both the ps3 and psp cuz my psp is no longer hacked ever since the "upgrade accident"sad

Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

But in-game mp3 playing will suck,it will mix with the music in the game and you wont be able to listen to neither one of em well. Theres no need for it then.

Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

thats why u mute the game sound like the xbox360 does....
well what i think is that sony doesnt care about us. they only care about money....
they dont want emulators on their consules because theyll get sued... and they dont want to have to pay for the rights to have other software.

Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

Oh yea some games can mute background music. And if Sony didnt care about us they wouldnt be adding our request, and so far Ive seen Sony giving us what we want,we dont want emulators, thats ilegal; to do in any console without the rights,Sony inst like microsoft,if they didnt care they would charge for playing online like the xbox 360.

Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

I'm sure they care. But, the only thing is PSN is free but the downloadable games aren't, On Xbox360 you have to pay to play online, but he games are free.

>.> we DO want emulators... emulators are the most popular homebrews out there for the psp. well they did give us a ps1 emu but thats about it. Im glad that thing got hacked. Without that every1 would have to get ps3s to play ps1 games on their psp hmm im guessing its a market strategy by sony..

Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

The emu is better in my opinion, the one integrated in custom firmwares.

Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

i have been playing backups all my life and i say it is better cause its free. Who cares about Sony, Microsoft etc.. they are well made companies. They already have billions and billions of dollars from consumers and i dont think they need more. Their money will only keep growing and your money will keep depleting since you wanna pay for original games!!

Re: I Shun homebrew, and respect sony. Do you?

^^ haha that's great, I admire your honesty. A lot of people try to deny being pirates but still download free stuff. I'm like you. If I can get it free I will, cds, dvds, pc and console games the lot.

Only a very small percentage of console owners actually hack them and pirate games, so the effect on the console and game makers is very minimal.  For every 5 people that download a game illegally, 95 other people go out and buy one. They still make loads of money and hackers and pirates are never really gonna stand in their way.

PSN - mr_cookingfat - add me
Games - COD4, Assassin's Creed (traded in), Ratchet & Clank, Guitar Hero III, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith,  Stuntman Ignition, R:FOM, Motorstorm, Warhawk (traded in), Sega Rally (traded in), Juiced 2 : Hot import nights, Ninja Gaiden,  Singstar, Playstation Eye, Tekken 5, GTAIV, Battlefield:Bad Company
