starvos - thanks
I forgot to answer sam's question.
Pal TVs have different frequency, region code so the whole setup is different.
Also screen size I read somewhere had to do something. (I will read upon it and let you know.)
Ask powerslave. -my answer for everything-

What's so good about pal dvd's?
its not that they r good or bad. its just another resolution format.

in the past i've always preferred NTSC systems though~
not sure why~
just like how i would always prefer .avi to .mp4 format~

the standard pal tv runs at 50hertz where-as ntsc runs at 60Hz. Nowadays TV's in the UK all run at 60Hz and up (mine does 100hz). this means the screen is "refreshed" more often making the image look slightly better. In the olden days companies converting ntsc games to pal would get lazy and just leave us with a black border at the top and bottom of the screen.
How times are changing!

Reasons why I look forward to play backedup games.
Loading speed will be much faster.
I don't have to get up to switch bd if i wanted to play something different.
Plus, I have a 500gb ext. hard drive laying around not doing much.
Haven't you seen the videos of the loader(s)? It looks like you will have to switch it to other os and then go over and turn it on manually. You have to turn it on manually because if u hav selected other os then you can't turn the ps3 on by pressing the PS button.

I'm hoping for a media centre that's as good as xbmc. Getting fed up of using a second hand £50 6 year old console that tramples all over my PS3 when it comes to playing movies, music, python scripts, etc, etc. With a true media centre the PS3 would rock, especially as you could attach loads of 750gb usb drives...

I agree with you fraser.
I can only cross my fingers and wait patiently for everything to unravel itself.

I don't think we will need to use a bluray disk...
Does the PS3 read DVDs? If so we can burn the ISOs on several DVDs and swap them at a point ![]()
(Note: I don't have a PS3 since it costs a lot... I will buy it when there is a reasonable price cut)

vuzuw - yes, ps3 reads dvds.

No a ps3 ISO can not be spit and play on several DVDS and swap when you did to go to the next part of the game. If your on about dvds movies yes the ps3 can read them but it only reads the same regions dvd movie as your ps3. So if your PS3 a USA ps3 then it will only read USA dvd movies.

He means PS3 ISO onto DVD and spit them i think.

I want other console emulators, I really want the N64 Emu, play some Mario and shit on that.

Offline
An N64 emulator sounds reasonable, I believe we have one running for PSP.
What I really wanna see though is a PS1/PS2 iSO loader.
Offline
i think n64 emu is one of the most sought after emu's these days, the question i get the most on xbox modding is, if you can run n64 games on xbox, and how, and if i have so and so game for n64 emu.

N64 emulator is possible on the ps3. As for psp it running but not full speed.

Yea I have the latest version of R10 on my PSP, runs Mario 64 but not at good speed. But like Ramzy said, "I really wanna see though is a PS1/PS2 iSO loader". IMO way better than N64 emulator.

anyone know how my HK PS3 is playing the UK BD Casino Royale? I thought Hong Kong was a different BD region than UK, or is the Casino Royale you get free with signing to Playstation Network a special non region one?

Just keep the ones that have an (E) or (U) next to it and delete the copies that have the same name with extra added to it. Most of the N64 roms comes with copies for different regions. Basically just keep one copy of your choice.
