Making a custom Xbox360

Well not completely custom. I'm gonna cut out an image on the top of the xbox and put Plexiglas under it to cover the hole yet still be able to see through it. Then I'm gonna put LED's in it to make it look better. What do you think? I'm think about doing the Amp Energy Drink Logo. Here's a picture of the drawing I'll be cutting out. Do you think it looks like the actual Amp Logo?

Drawing Picture:

Here's an example of what mine would look like.

Re: Making a custom Xbox360

I actually gave a buddy of mine some 360 parts so he could gutswap and he is making me a custom gears case for me. The case is done he is just waiting for the red led's to come in the mail.

The cog was cut out but he did it a little crooked. He first sent me a text image and I was disappointed but when I saw it in person it looked sweet. He painted the undercoat a crimson red and painted over top of it black. He sanded part of it with a high grit sandpaper to expose the red in various parts. He thought he messed up on the face plate because the paint cracked. I took it as part of the Gears story were Jacinto gets sunk. Once its done and my brand new Jasper guts are put in it I will post pics. You should do the same.

Re: Making a custom Xbox360

Wow. Sounds complicated. The part that'll mess me up is the whole undercoat paint and sanding to reveal it. I'm just gonna stick with keeping this simple. Just a simple cut out, LED's, and maybe a good paint job. I'm also cutting out the top of my dvd drive so you can see the disc through the plexiglas.

Re: Making a custom Xbox360

My friend is into that stuff though. He painted the insides of his car doors with skull stencils he made. The skulls almost look like the gears ones thats why I asked him to do it for me. He also has an airbrushing setup and bought automotive paint because he says it lasts longer. I think its a good deal trading him broken parts and me not having to pay for it.

Re: Making a custom Xbox360

Oh. Haha. Nah. I still have AMP letters at the bottom I need to cut. So once that's all finish I can put the plexiglas on then get ready to wire up the LEDs.

Re: Making a custom Xbox360

Here's my final cutting process. My touch up on it a bit with sanding then I'll paint it. Thinking about a nice glossy black. Don't want to get to into detail with painting. This is my first time doing this with a 360. Then to put the plexiglas on and finally LEDs. Unless I'm missing a step. But here is what it looks like so far.

Re: Making a custom Xbox360

Finished it.

Just not a good video. I'll record a better one later.

Things I could have done better:
Raised the LEDs on the DVD drive side higher so they can light the top portion of the Xbox. You can see how it's a little dark.
Do my wiring in better places. I just wired the resisters and LED's all along the side where ever I chose which I soon discovered that was a bad idea. It's no big deal but the sides of the xbox won't fit on properly now. So I'll have to fix that.
Don't use normal hot glue to glue the plexiglas. Use JB weld instead. Works much better.
And other small stuff.

If you could get that on there that would look sweet.

Looks pretty kick ass. Why did you put the tape on there though?

Re: Making a custom Xbox360

i guess for a xbox it dosent matter so much but when i cut windows in computer cases i tape it up incase the dremel wants to wonder and scratch the metal. but i guess sanding scratches outa plastic is alot easyer then metal

Re: Making a custom Xbox360

You'd probably want to take the tape off then cut since the plastic will melt a little as you cut depending on what you use. I guess it just depends on which method you prefer.

Take a pic once it's all done. I'm thinking about doing an MLG xbox next. What do you think? Or should I do something different?

Re: Making a custom Xbox360

well it depends on how u wana do the mlg one. if u want the symbol then it will be dam hard not to make it look like shit. if u want just the letters then yea it shouldint be to bad. although i would go with something a lil more original

edit. done filing for now. i need to do a lil more and buy a finner one aswell. this is it so far

Re: Making a custom Xbox360

Is that like Microsoft saying F'You?  Heh heh heh...

If that is supposed to be a middle finger, the TWO fingers are on the wrong side.

Go to a mirror, shoot the finger and look, your little finger and ring will be on your left, and yourindex or POINTER finger is on the right.  That is how it should look if your XB case is shooting the finger...

Re: Making a custom Xbox360

didint really think of that, i did this as a window cause when i first say that pic i originally posted i wanted to make a case window with it. i usually shoot the finger with my right hand and if u give ur self the finger with the right hand thats the way it lines up.
