Heard that there is an update for the iXtreme FW. Someone on youtube was talking about it. He didn't go into detail but he mentioned wave4 or something. DId he mean a ban wave? And if I don't update my FW right away can I get caught and banned even if I play the real games?

That's what they mean, you are never 100% safe with Xbox Live. I didn't hear anything about a BAN wave, just the new Wave 4 discs.

You have to update the firmware for the new WAVE 4 discs, or new backups of games won't run. They run on some drives, but, it's not safe to do that. This is all covered over at xbox360-hacks.com

If you stay on 1.6 and use the active.iso wave 4 games will run. Just make sure they check out in abgx360 and you will be fine. I just flashed a bunch of xbox's so I'm gonna give them the active.iso so I dont have to reflash them so soon. I plan on doing my 2 though.

I haven't been staying up on this stuff so what would you suggest I do?

Its a disc that you put in before you put the backup in. It tells the drive to load up any disc. You have to make sure it gets verified in abgx360. If its not a good copy it will still load and you could get banned.

So if I don't update to 1.61 I'll need to put in the Active.iso before I play any new backups?
