i paid $30 for broken 60GB PS3.
why it was taken apart in the first place....I Have no idea
In Need of:
Power/Eject button cable
the guy said he had it on once.
now even if that cable is missing putting disc in should turn it on... correct ?

Offline
possibly not. look through other electronics for a cable of that width (optical drives are a good place) and use it. you can even cut a wider one to the right size. just make sure the pins on the connectors are same distance apart as the pins on the cable
Offline
most cd/dvd drives have the right size and pitch ribbon cables in them
hint your old ps2 has one in!!!!!!![]()

I think for 30 bucks it's not too bad of deal if blu ray drive is still in good condition. just a thought...

You could turn it on with the PS controller..and eject discs from the menu.

What did you expect out of a broken PS3 for $30? I wouldnt give you your money back.

I think for $30.00, they knew...
If it does not turn all the way on with the PS3 controller, the light just blinks (green?) you said? Does it turn red, yellow, anything? Or, is it just the controller that just blinks? If so, then no thoughts on that besides PSU...
Still, for $30.00, if you got a controller with it, you're already up $15 bucks... You can sell the Shell, any plug-in boards, (card reader, WiFi board), BR-D if it works, and make four times what you paid for it...

No controller, the power board with the buttons ribbon is missing,HD is missing and the bluray has been apart & missing the metal case around it.
all i got with it was the power cord.
i wasted $30. i can get my money back. i think i will

Well, not sure the system boot up WITHOUT a HDD, that may be the first thing to check, but, if you're going to get your money back, then I guess there's no reason to troubleshoot it.
It may just not work because that panel is missing, with the LEDs and sense buttons. You can't see what the PS3 is doing without the lights to indicate what's up.

yeah true. i thought of that. i know ps3 will boot up with out HD but will not go into main menu.
as for the board missing (not connected) i think is the very reason it wont turn on.
i thought the controller would and disc insert but no go.
