Emulators and Linux

Hi I'm a newbie and I have a few questions.

1: Are Emulators real or not?    <---- Sorry I see conflicting stories all over the place about this.

If they are then, how can I if at all possible get one?   ( Only want an emulator to allow me to play old snes games and stupid stuff like that, as long as it's legal and all.)

2: I am seriously considering installing ydl on my Ps3 and want to know what is the most that I can possibly do with Ydl that would make it worth it.

3: If I do install Ydl is it possible for my Ps3 to contract a virus from the internet that could possibly mess my Ps3 up completely?     <--- so far I've heard that it is not possible for the virus to mess it up But I would rather have some sort of reassurance because like i stated earlier I've heard conflicting stories about everything.

4: I see websites claiming that you can pay a 1 time fee of like $50 and dl all the games you want for Ps3.   Is this true, or is it just a scam?    And if it is true is it legal or not because I don't want no trouble from sony?

Thanks in advance, Sorry if the answers to my questions have already been answered I did try search, but may have missed it.

There are SOME, but no sound, and no hardware acceleration for graphics, locked out.

It's not worth it, the new PS3 SLIM abandoned the OTHER OS as well, no one is supporting Linux heavily for the PS3.  If you want a PC, use a PC, not the PS3.  If you want to install linux, you have to start over, because it will need to reformat the HDD for the 10GB linux partition.  So, you would need tp back up what the XMB allows, then reformat. There are plenty install tutorials, read one to see what is involved.

You can get a virus even on the PS3 Game O/S using the web browser, I posted and article on this. Tend Micro has teamed up with Sony for a Anti-Virus for PS3.  In Linux, there are not many, people specifically target the Microsoft operating system.  Linux is pretty much safe.

There is no such thing, I never read or heard about that.
