What's with the outbreak of such questions? Is it the release of the PS3 Slim?

This interest me
Why isn't there a way to play burned PS1 games? It doesn't seem like it should be that much trouble to fool the PS3 considering the PS1 is so old. I don't know jack sht about hacking but it still seems like the only reason we don't have this working is that hackers aren't interested in ps1 games.

Doesn't the swap magic trick work for PS1 games as well? or just PS2 games?

1: With the original PS1, the mod-chip used sent the signals to the board that the game was an original. Then new games were able to SEE it, because it was always ON. So, then the STEALTH chip came out, that was only on during the boot phase, then shut-off. Where is this for PS3? Even something on the BR-D mainboard would help, but, ummm, no...
2: There was no ISO loader for the PS1, so where do you begin with PS3? Not only is there NO chip around to fool the PS3 to thinking anything, how is an ISO loader going to fool it? The LOADER would have to be in the consoles NATIVE language, not Linux, or, to run backups by bypassing the security check. Since there is no way to even do that, you're back to square one...
PS1 originals can be downloaded, and played, correct? So, there is their version of backup booting, from the HDD, as a signed package. Figure that out (good luck), then you can start somewhere. Are they using a single file like an ISO, or is it just a dump, with a signed boot-loader? ANYONE?
So, there you have it... There are no hacked methods of running anything on the PS3; and now? With the PS3 Slim, you don't even have Linux to bash at something and hope for a break. Which is another admission of failure by Sony... So, 1st it was give up on BwC, and now Linux? See a pattern here? Sony should have kept it simple in the first place (where they are now), which would have kept the price at where people could have afforded it at release, and thus not have FORCED people to buy Xbox 360s because of the heafty 599.99 price tag.

You do realize why they removed the other OS option from the newer, cheaper, PS3s right? It isn't to save them money (not really anyway). Basically people would buy tons of them for non-gaming related reasons, "linux farms" or something like that. People would buy them to create cheap super computers and since sony was and is still making a loss on each console sold it was bad for business because those purchases didn't recoup the cost from software sales.
Thanks for explaining the PS1 problem.

You can still use the power the PS3 has, for a Missile Guidance system...
