Seagate Momentus 7200.4

Hello all, I am new here. Been reading for a while but just joined up today. Anyway I own the oldschool (got it in 06) PS3 CECHA01 with the 60 gig drive. It has worked great forever and I love it. 4 usb and backwards compatibility FTW. If I ever have to replace it I am deff going to get either what I had or a CECHE01 and swap in new drive. I didn't see an intro section so I am John, I am currently a tech for a community college. I am a veteran with the US army I served in the 82nd Airborne division as an Airborne Infantryman (2/504 STRIKE HOLD!!!). I am currently studying to go into the medical field probably start as a PA. Anyway thats me.

As far as the drive I posted as the title, Does anyone have any special thoughts or considerations for this drive? I have read as much on the 7200 vs 5400 debate and I feel confident that this drive will not be too hot for the ps3. I plan on ordering it and installing it after I hear a few opinions of any problems that I may be unaware of. I am going to buy the 500 gig version. Thanks for your feedback!

Re: Seagate Momentus 7200.4

There debate on using a 7200 rpm over 5400 has been on going, but, people are using the 7200 rpm drives, with no problems.

Please BACKUP your PS3 to a USB device.  When you put the new drive in, and format it, it will NOT recognize the old one anymore.   You will have to RESTORE to the one you just put in.

You can use ANY SATA 2.5" drive, you do not need to focus on any particular model.

If you want to research models, then just compare voltage specs, and go with the lowest amp model.
