I finds no access points, and wired ethernet doesn't even light the ethernet port. I am thinking its the ethernet IC chip anyone have any ideas? Anyone know where the PS3 network IC is?

Don't know what you are doing, and what you are talking about, thus you won't get an answer.

do or make a check list for people to read. Did it work before and all of a sudden not? Are you using router, is it new? Can you get access from the pc on your internet connection?
Try bypassing the router and going right into your ps3. If that works then you may need to reset or setup your router. Possibly even a bad router.
Don't rule or rule out anything yet, just test. I once had a bad cable and a bad router at the same time.
Have you called your ISP? Talk to them about it too.
Try this link as well: http://playstation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin … d=j3uAeJxj
