Fat PSP w/ 8GB Sandisk Mem stick

Hey, quick question to any who has experienced this problem.

I recently bought 8gb authentic sandisk card and loaded them with games, pics and music files.
I have then forced exit on one of the games then voila. Nothing is visible any more even though memory is clearly taken up still.... I reset the darn thing and shut down the thing with no success. In the end, I have just formatted the stick and it seems fine.

Problem is this. I do not want this to happen EVER again.
I never had this issue prior to my recent update to 5.00v4 m3 and before I purchased this stick.
Is this common issue or is this a stand alone case? If anyone has run into this kind of issue before, please share your experience here.

rock band will delete the PSP/GAME folder,  (only if it is empty?)
so
remake the PSP/GAME folder
and put a blank .txt file in it

Looks like you have the issue and the fix but just incase....I know you said it's an authentic stick but use the PSP to check and see if it shows up as MagicGate. You can do that by navigating to the card on any menu and pressing triangle to get to information.
