so here i was looking up hard drives. and noticed Solid State Drives Option
i clicked it.
Drive Type: Solid State Drive
Interface: SATA
Write Speed: up to 98 MB/sec
Read Speed: up to 170 MB/sec
ok that's wicked fast !
so my questions are:
1. is it worth buying and putting in a PS3 ?
2. would it be that fast on a PS3 ?
3. Safe for a PS3 ?
4. Would PS3 Accept it ?

DO you have $300.00+ for a SSD that is large enough to make it worth while?
2. would it be that fast on a PS3 ?
Yes, loading and write times will be faster.
3. Safe for a PS3 ?
As safe as voltage specs allow.
4. Would PS3 Accept it ?
Yes, but it has to be a 2.5" SSD.
Here are some upcoming products:

http://www.sandisk.com/OEM/ProductCatalog(1321)-SanDisk_SSD_SATA_5000_25.aspx
Here is what's available in 2.5" size:
The Intel 64GB X25-E SATA 2.5IN SSD DRIVE SLC Starts at $826.00
Axiom 128GB SATA SOLID STATE FLASH DRIVE ( SSD25S/128GB-AX ) - $1600.00
Samsung 128GB 2.5" MLC SSD SATA II Hard Drive MMDOE28G5MPP-0VA - $495.00 - Yeah, how can Samsung make a $500.00 drive -vs- the Axiom's $1600.00 price tag...
Intel X25-M 80GB MLC SSD - $355.00
SO, do you think spending $400.00 for a sizable SSD is worth it? Not not to me..

I'm aware of the prices. i was wondering if i could get that performance on the ps3. if so a small size would be worth it.
heck put one in my PS2 that runs games off HD.
then it would be totally worth it ![]()
