Sup....i have recently put all my "toys" on a bookcase i bought and they are gettin hot!!!! I tried to give them enough space but i dont think it's enough. so i was wondering if there is a way i could hook up some fans to the ps3's usb and mount them to the case on the shelves so they can move air out the top of the case. i just was think it would be a cool idea.....so if i'm right ps3's usb plugs only output 5v right? what about watts? and maybe there is another way i could do this but im sorta out of plugs on my power strip. i was wantin to try for 3 fans one on each of the shelves hopefully....if anyone has any more ideas toss them out there....besides saying to move them. the stereo gets the hottest then the ps3 then the pansat box
heres a pic
i may be able to get another plug on the strip by moving the wii or i could just unplug it, matter of fact im going to leave the wii unplugged from now on since we hardly ever play it. so i will have a plug open on the strip if i could buy something to run the fans....I'm wanting to use LED fans also

Don't see how they are getting hot, unless the bookshelf is right up against the wall. YOu should pull it ouy about 4 inches for proper venting. My TV stand is all glass, and is as wide open as that, and sure, they get hot, but been that way for years, everything still works.
You also have to remember, heat RISES, mine are spread out sideways, and only two shelves. I don' t have sides either, just three glass levels... You are good the way it is, everything is going to get hot, as long as nothing is enclosed...

You could stand the PS3 up and since heat rises you could have one regular fan at the foot of the shelf aimed upward at it like 45 degree tilt if you're really that concerned. Won't be pretty though.
You can go to amazon.com and search: USB Retro Fan
id give a link but im on my PS3

if ur cutting up a usb cable the red is 5v and the black is ground and the ps3's usb ports give off 500mA each

Move your PS3 to the left, and move what ever (laptop?) is next to it somewhere else xD

100mA to 500mA for USB 2.0. It's like 50mA higher on 3.0
Put a intercooler on the PS3 and put a low powered fan blowing vertical behind the book case. That's kind of how they do it on server racks
