My performance index for the ATI went down from:
4.8 to 3.7 Desktop performance
4.9 to 3.9 3D business and gaming.
Overall 4.1 down to 3.7, 4.1 being the Socket 939 Athlon 3700.
It does seem like the screens pop up faster, and it is a better card, but it killed my performance index..
The Nvidia had the better numbers.
Which card is better, really? I got them both for 20.00, so can't beat that.. They are PCIe 16x cards.

Maybe use them both? I'd say use the nVidia over the ATI but it depends on what you prefer. If you have two PCI-E slots then may as well use both as dual if you can.

Plus, I only have one PCIe slot. I was just wondering which one was actually BETTER...

Now surely thats somethigh you'll have to decide for yourself, don't go with M$ performace indexing use your own judgement. Test each one out!

Yea, the performance index isn't very accurate at all...rates my system with an ok (but obviously nowhere near the best) Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHz CPU and 4 GB 800 MHz RAM at about 3.5. Hopefully it'll go up greatly when I put my GPU in.
My last laptop had dedicated nVidia inside and considering nVidia is more expensive I didn't get very impressed by it. Ok, it wasn't the best nVidia has to offer but still. I'm going with ATI now simply to give it a try and see which I prefer.
If I were you I'd test both on the same game and pick the one you like the most.

I do not play games on the PC at all, so I do not need to rate it for graphics anyway, the HDD access is the highest at 5.3, and the CPU at 4.1, and that's a Socket 939 Athlon 3700...
