System restore to the previous restore point

System restore is bad news. It backs up malware too.

things I'd do:
1- check control panel->user accounts->user accounts and see what type of account I had.


2- Do Run->cmd for a terminal or telnet:// in a browser for one. Then do the tasklist command and look for funked up processes.

3- check the Run and Run Once registry fields.

4- get into control panel-> performance and maintanance->administrative tools. The go check out component services->event viewer and component services->services. You can also do this by pasting C:\WINDOWS\system32\Com\comexp.msc in a terminal or run box(same on 64 bit OS.)

- also look at user policy in the administrative tools to see if that's where my privs where removed.

I'd especially run something like Avira free/personal with full heuristics on boot sectors, active processes etc..

If you still have any sort of administrative best thing to do is create a new user. Your user account may just be corrupt, this will tell you if it is something with your settings or if it's a virus.

If the new user works fine, you can copy over your profile.

Im on XP Pro but im just gonna backup my media and re-install.
The registry edit was even disabled and i was the admin login
