Boot scene Hack - Possible?

I've googled my little heart out in search of hacking the Boot screen, y'know, the scene with the waves, and the woooooom sound at start up. Maybe I'm just looking in all the wrong places, so I'm asking you.
I'm new here, and this is about customization, so, I hope I'm in the right spot for asking.

But, is it even possible to change it? I've seen it done on the PSP and thought it was rather nift, just hoping it could also be done with the PS3. I hate that boot screen so much.

Re: Boot scene Hack - Possible?

We have posted here, somewhere; that just because the PSP and PS3 have the same LOOKING interface, THEY ARE NOT the same.   There is nothing you can do with the PS3 as far as hacking it.

Oh yeah, it's in the PS3 for DUMMIES link...  Maybe you noobs should look there first, but that would be way to convenient...

Re: Boot scene Hack - Possible?

owned
maybe cause the xbox and PS3 both read disks we can do what we did to the xbox, a little firmware change and play back-ups.

Re: Boot scene Hack - Possible?

Oh wow, didn't know you guys would be such dicks about this. I do know they are completely different systems, just thought I'd ask a forum of losers who waste their time playing with this kinda thing.

And sorry about the PS3 for dummies thing, I simply missed the link. Don't get all pissy with me just because I made a mistake. It's funny though, noob calling noob.

You're a bit of a hypocrite.  You say we waste our time playing with this stuff but you want to know how to do it yourself?  Yeah.  You're the bag of douche here.

I have stated MERE fact.

Losers?  Who missed EVERYTHING?

I don't spend time PLAYING with anything either, because with the PS3, there is nothing to play WITH.  It has been out for OVER two years, and NO hacks, cracks, tweaks, chips, blips, blops, NOTHING!

Then again, us LOSERS seem to know that...

Nope, not really, just thought I'd ask. No effort.
I'm shocked how you treat newcomers on this site though, not everyone is as savvy to this sorta thing as you guys probably are, I know I'm not, sorry if I was a bother.

Re: Boot scene Hack - Possible?

Pay no mind to the insults it's just getting asked the same questions everyday tends to get to some of them. Plus the fact that this is a hack site and still no hack to report on kind of lowers the self esteem of some of the leading members here. If you stick around long enough it will get to you too.

Sorry, just needed to emphasize the everyday part of that...

Just for the record, I didn't say the PSP and PS3 ran on the same system, I just mentioned the PSP as an example of the type of hack I was wanting to go for. Seriously makes you wonder who the noob here really is...

We all know what you meant, so don't be coy with anyone.  Just because they appear the same, you wanted a replacement XMB.

However, as stated?  You would have known the answer to the repetitive question, INSTANTLY, had you used the DUMMIES link, right?  Right...  IT is the 8th line down in that post...  Yeah, right there...

Who's the NEWBIE?  Well, look through the DUMMIES link, I posted ALL That information, and understand it ALL.   You are the NEWBIE, yes, you...  Newbie means, you're just signed up, and asking STUPID questions, that's what NEWBIE means, in fact, here is the definition:

new·bie
Pronunciation:  \ˈnü-bē, ˈnyü-\
Function:  noun
Usage:  often attributive
Etymology:  irregular from new
Date: 1970

: newcomer ; especially : a * newcomer to cyberspace

*   1  : one recently arrived
     2  : beginner  , rookie

Whatever meaning people have PERVERTED it to mean, is THEIR problem, and THEIR mental issues.

Re: Boot scene Hack - Possible?

Wow, so much arguing over a simple question.
@warner_v, and a few more, is that how you welcome new people to the forums? Isn´t this suppose to be the season? you know good will to everyone and things like that.
I could understand if he had asked about playing ps3 backups but I see this as a little different.
I do realize  there is no ps3hacks but if the ps3 is unhackackable and noone can ask any questions, you might as well close up this serction. just leave the PS3 for Dummies thread.
Although theres been no hacks, there´s been little things like Rfom trick, Ps3 proxy, rsx acces on rsx, BD-j, customizing ps3 saves, ps3 saves alteration for online hacks, the switch mod to play ps2 and ps1 backups, ps2 and psx homebrew. I can´t think of anything else right now.

I also don´t believe noob and newbie are the same thing.
"Contrary to the belief of many, a noob/n00b and a newbie/newb are not the same thing. Newbs are those who are new to some task* and are very beginner at it, possibly a little overconfident about it, but they are willing to learn and fix their errors to move out of that stage. n00bs, on the other hand, know little and have no will to learn any more. They expect people to do the work for them and then expect to get praised about it, and make up a unique species of their own."  taken from urban dictionary.
I also believe that no matter how much someone knows they can always learn more. it´s impossible for 1 person to know everything about  everything:)

@digsy. you do have to realize that most of these guys have answered hundreds of questions, over  and over, and over again. so you shouldn´t take it personally. you have to take that because of the hundred of Newbies or Noobs that were here before you mrgreen

I hope I´m not out of line. just my 2 cents
bye

Re: Boot scene Hack - Possible?

I agree with Leonidas. The only way to fix this is to give the person access to the ps3-hacks web server control panel, and a nice apology letter, or email.

RSX Access is gone.
BD-J is GONE.
RFOM trick, GONE, the first update of RFOM; swap trick will not work anymore.

Re: Boot scene Hack - Possible?

The sound file you want to change is located in dev_flash\vsh\resource  Its not possible to write to the flash yet.  Once it is, you can replace the sound file with another one, but until then you'll have to be content with the current sound.

Well sure, I know that. I did use past tense. The Rfom trick not working was what finally made me break down and update, along time ago. I could go without the online but not being able to play games on my $600 machine wasn´t  to much fun. sigh
Anyway, they´re not totally gone, they just don´t work with current firmwares.
For what it´s worth, I can still use BD-J on 1 of my ps3´s, lol

Happy New Year to everyone !!!!

Lets hope the new year can bring more interesting things to the ps3 scene. maybe not but we can dream.
bye

Infectus can read and write to the flash, but it's signed.. you can back up the flash though. I've yet to use it myself. It's another Actel ASIC based board like mod chips have used for years, it's just marketed towards research instead of homebrew and backups because nobody has cracked the sig-chain schemes on the x360 or PS3 yet.

I haven't done much reading lately, but if I remember correctly there is a small portion of the flash you can't read; I could be wrong though. Also in some update I think XMB started using more of the HDD or something- I remember they made big changes to the file system footprint.

I'll see if I remember anything when I wake up. I don't have any tools to do anything anyway. o.o
