Gamecube-Gameboy Advance connection on PS3-PSP?

The Gamecube and Gameboy Advance had a kind of connection that required a special cable; when you had the Gamecube version of a game, as well as the Gameboy Advance version of the same game, you could unlock extra levels for both and stuff.

My question is this: if we get a Gamecube emulator for PS3, and a GBA emulator for PSP, then will we be able to use a USB cable to emulate the Gamecube and GBA's unique connection?

Just an idea.

Probably not, but lets get the emulators going first...

Re: Gamecube-Gameboy Advance connection on PS3-PSP?

maybe
PSP Plus?

With only one analog nub, the PSP can't seem to nail down a comfortable first or third-person shooter control scheme on its own, but a new tech called "PSP Plus" will allow users to pair the handheld with the PlayStation 3's more genre-capable SIXAXIS or DualShock 3 controllers. Sony announced PSP Plus at the Tokyo Game Show today but didn't provide much info about how it works, so we're not sure if it's the same technology that was patented last year. We do know there's a pretty outrageous catch: you'll need to connect your PSP to your PS3 to use the controller. With only one game supported (Resistance Retribution), we prefer just about any homemade hack to this solution, and if you're at home with your PS3, why not play Resistance 2 instead? It's what Kratos would do.

PSP plus?

The upcoming PSP game will utilize a newly developed technology called "PSP Plus." The feature will allow players of Resistance Retribution to connect their systems to the PS3 to enable use of PS3 wireless controllers. Using the DualShock will enable dual-analog control in the game. In addition, rumble will be supported. This potential use of connectivity was hinted at in a patent filed over a year ago.

Other games may be able to potentially utilize PSP Plus -- however, it is currently a Retribution-only tech. Stay tuned as we reveal the exciting additions connecting PS3's Resistance 2 and PSP's Resistance Retribution will bring.

Hm, that's interesting...will hackers now be able release cfw for PSP that will let us play eboots with the PS3 controller? Because

PSP Slim & Lite + PS1 Eboots + TV Output + PS3 Controller = Awesome

And after a little research I discovered that there is already a GBA emulator for PSP, it's called GBSP or GPSP or something.

Would it not be easier to just play it on a PS3 that can emulate, a PS2 or even just plug a PS1 in?!

Re: Gamecube-Gameboy Advance connection on PS3-PSP?

You can't download PS1 games illegally for free and play them on PS3, though. But it might be sort of possible soon.

And apparently Resistance 2 will have an "Infect my PSP!" option that will unlock an alternate storyline for Resistance Retribution, which is just the sort of feature the NGC and GBA had. So I guess that answers my first question...
