Has anyone figured out how make an arcade stick from a wireless PS3 controller?
I think it would be cool, and certainly worth the effort, but I don't know what would make a good controller to work off of. sony controllers are probably too delicate... has anyone taken apart a third party wireless? I'd rather be able to link the controller to the PS3, but a USB dongle and wireless would be fine too. I just don't like having to be wired when I'm beating people up... :p

i know this thread is old but yes. it's mad easy as long as you know which end of a soldering iron to hold... you can even do it solderlessly if you have steady enough hands to insert 22 awg solid core wire into an ffc connector with a 1mm pitch ![]()
pcb details can be seen here:

the only tricky part is that the button membrane is a flexible, plastic circuit board that can't be soldered onto. the circuit board has resistors on it so if you remove it you have to wire everything up to a second pcb with more resistors and blah blah blah... but that's not really a problem. google AXISDAPTER. it's a custom pcb designed specifically for doing this. you can get it preassembled or if you're cheap like me you can order a kit with all the parts and assemble it yourself. you can also do the extremely cheap and dirty thing and just wire up your own protoboard. if you're confident enough to pull off the latter, check out the images of the pcb on the following link so you can figure out how to wire it:

as far as arcade stick parts... after sf4 they've gone up in cost and are in short supply. it cost me about $100 in electronics alone to build mine.

Thanks MrHiggins. I actually already built one out a third party PS3 controller. It took me a little while, but I figured it out eventually.
I'm gonna look into this AxisAdapter thing though, as making a second one could be in my future if it will connect through the bluetooth. ![]()

indeed it would be bluetooth... i used the sixaxis that came with my system with great ease. heads up: the flat-flex cable that comes with the kit is pretty short so if you want a little more elbow room when you're wiring, search mouser or digi-key for 1mm pitch fcc cable. also check out the tech forum on shoryuken.com. that's where i got my axisdapter. (no a in adapter)
