Saving my save files from a broken PS3 HDD

Has anyone figured out how to read a PS3 HDD in a PC using an HDD enclosure?
My PS3 won't even turn on anymore, so I can't backup my save files. I'd like to know if anyone has figured out how to decrypt the encrypted FAT32 file system that the PS3 uses so I can copy my save files off of it, and then copy them onto a working PS3.

it's not possible at the moment, you can't even put your hdd in another ps3 to read them  thanks to sony's protection.
i think you are out of luck.

Who told you its encrypted FAT32.  If it was FAT32 games installs wouldn't be allowed to be >4gb yet they are.  So before beating any encryption, figuring out what filesystem it uses and how to read it unencyrpted first is more important.  In short, you're SOL

That's what I got from pressing the supervisor at sony tech support... maybe he was just lying. furthermore, I'm pretty sure games installs can be over 4GB so long as they are in multiple files. the limit is just on file size, not on install size... hell, windows takes up more space than 4GB on install, it's just in a lot of smaller files.

I've been reading about "SPUFS" which is where people have figured out how to read the PS3 file system in Linux I was hoping someone here knew something about it.

It would seem that if people found a way to program the PS3 in Linux then reading the HDD wouldn't be a big deal... but maybe I'm wrong.

I suppose, but when it's for Soul Calibur, it's just not quite the same if you use someone else's save files....
