According to the 2008 Game Development Survey (whoever they are), has a new 180-page report that questions nearly 2,000 game developers from North America and elsewhere (mostly Europe). The PC still rules the development world with 70% of those surveyed. They said they are making games for the PC/Mac, compared to 43% who are making console games, and 28% who are making games for web platforms; and 16% are making portable games (DS, PSP).
Interestingly enough, on the console front, the console developers seem to show a preference for Microsoft's Xbox 360; with a good 73 percent of them creating games for 360. Only 58 percent (including some of the same respondents) are developing for PS3, and 42 percent for the Wii. At teh bottom, we have 15 percent that are STILL creating games for the PS2!!!
Got to wonder why...
