I want to know, whats so special about the linux for the PS3. What can I do with it? Will I need it in the future? Where can I get it and how big is the file? Is it free to download?

Play movies, PC games, Emulates Emulators and play NES roms. You could do whatever you wanna do!
(Note: but still, it runs slower than the turtle)

I don't think so, PS3 OS can be modified one day in future like PSP.

Via Sony Portal, or check the Linux section. 3GB approximately, yes completely free. Though Yellow Dog linux cost $99
BTW this should be moved to the Linux section
