the psp has a chip in the battry that when u pull up a pin it resets and allows the psp to go into service mod (pandora batrry) that sam chip was found in the ps3 controller
it has been tested on LATER fw but wat about fw that u still have to connect the controler to the ps3?

havent heard of this, i would of thought the ps3 would boot in service mode via a special hard drive not the controller.

im not saying it will put it in service mode now but thre has to be a purpose for it
like a fw check or a combination of buttons and a software program to get it in to service mode

oh kool, i guess only time will tell with things like this but i have a feeling nothing is goin to come from this.

I have read about this on another site. Someone had tried to mess with it and failed, because it is NOT the "exact" same chip as in the PSP battery. If you want to believe it is, then go for it.
In any case, if it had any merit; The PS3 controller would have to be connected to the PS3 by USB cable if that WERE to even work, and they may also have specified a specific port.
If it is the SAME CHIP, then you would pull the pin on it, connect the controller to the USB port with a cable, then BOOT PS3. IT would then boot into service mode, which has no use to us anyway, there is no hacked firmware to flash.
PS3 has a service mode without the use of the controller, we have seen people HERE that have a PS3 that is booting into service mode, and they can't get out of it.
But, by all means, try and make your Pandora Controller...

but i think they got smarter and saw wat happened to the psp so they could've added an additional switch for the ps3 to go into service mode
i dont nessesaly want hackd fw if we can gt it to service mode we can fix bricked ps3/ install any fw we want

The controller idea would have been genius on Sony's part because it would have been the last thing anyone would have expected but it's not likely to have happened.

That amazing find is a standard flash chip used in hundreds of devices, with a whopping 256 byte memory. it's used to store the PS3's ID so it knows what console to connect to next time you turn it on.

are you saying:
1) its a bluetooth chip?
2) the ps3's UID is ~256 bytes large?

1) No, it's just storage so the controller knows what console to connect to, or turn on when you press the (P) button.
2) No, the chip that holds that information is 256 bytes.
