A question about Dev Kits

I was wondering what is the difference between the retail ps3 and dev kits (if of course any were leaked out) . Is the matter only in software or is it hardware too. And another thing along with dev kits, have unencrypted ps3 drivers been leaked out as well. If the difference between dev kit and retail is only the software, can we use something like Infectus chip to flash the firmware to the leaked on and play pirated games ( fine, backups , homebrew, what ever you want to call it...) ?

Thnx Xakker

Re: A question about Dev Kits

What the hell are you talking about mick?

Directly from the rules section:
ISO talk and ISO loaders ARE allowed in this forum, however, piracy is not. Do not ask for help on burning pirated games/ISOs. Do not post links, or torrent links to piracy sites, or files; and, do not ask for where to pirate/download ISOs from.

He broke no rule.

Back to the topic: I think the dev kits are different from the retail both hardware and software wise.

i asked a single question whether dev kits differ from reatil hardware wise, i dont need you telling me the rules if u dont know the answer. We perfectly know the talk of "backups" and "running unsigned code" and "Iso loaders" always lead back to piracy. No i dont support piracy but i dont have a problem with people that do. And BTW all the tawlk about ISO loaders is a waste, there cant be such a thing, at best we could run a decrypted and modified version of a game from the HDD, so paradox and ferrox are full of $hit.

Another thing...Anyone know what is the hardware for dev kits. And if the devkit is able to run both signed and unsigned code

Also is the firmware for the dev kits encrypted and signed or it runs native unsigned code?

Thanx, Xakker

Re: A question about Dev Kits

I really doubt this guy went into a big explanation of something to play pirated games. It looks like he wants to know more about the dev kits... I dont see any indication that he wants to play pirated games. And buying a dev kit to play pirated games isnt the way to go either.

Re: A question about Dev Kits

All your questions are answered here already anyway, FORGET about the Infectus chip, if you would bother to read, it only allows downgrading of firmware, but that's limited; that being the version you can start with, and the version you can END with.  DO a little reading please....

We also talked about DEV KITS in pretty good detail, like you can't search for "dev kit" on both subject and message body to find we already discussed this all.

See the link that says, in the MENU bar no less: [INFO, Hacks & Exploits] which takes you here:
http://www.ps3-hacks.com/forums/about1411.html

Which contains this:
Infectus Downgrade PS3 1.6 to 1.5

Your search on "dev kit" would get you this:

However, as usual, you want everyone else to do the work for you?  Well I am a little sick of NEW threads being created because YOU can't use a simple search function, and on top of that, provide the search data?  That's pretty sad, if you think about it, the inability to research...  Well, that's why the PS3 won't get hacked, because if you can't use a simple search function, you sure won't be hacking a PS3, getting your hands on a Dev Kit, or even understand how it all works.   Oh well, yippe for the lazy people...

Re: A question about Dev Kits

Yea you know there are several models for ps3 dev kits? There is prototype dev kit, the final dev kit, test ps3, review ps3, and thats just what we know.. If you are SO sick of me posting , then why did u do 10 replies when i suggested ps3's firmware could be decrypted on linux? And yea i cant ask whether the hardware differs, appart from the actual look, which it dont, since its firmware could be flashed to a retail ps3... and no i arnt buying a damn ps3 dev kit, u think i got 10000 lying spare for entertainment?

You post that you "know what needs to be done" and talk about that the hack is private, but i havnt seen a hello world or pong from you...hmm all leet hackers talk like paradox and ferrox about some iso loader bullshit, how it is possible extract key pair from ps3... end result = zero

and for your information i DID look up "dev kit" "test" "custom firmware" "cracked firmware" "debug kit in the search bar

Re: A question about Dev Kits

Ive been reading since christmas and im already feeling like powerslave. There are constantly the same threads being made (not that this is a remake) as i thought this could of turned out to be a good thread.

However, dev kits, test PS3's and retails ps3's have all been covered a long time ago.

And from what i believe the simplest way to put it is, Dev Kits look like a VCR, test kits have a test badge on them, and retails are what you have now.

Yep, I covered ALL THREE, and had photos of them, again, you didn't LOOK!  Another LEEP before you look post, as usual.   I did not do TEN replies, this is my 3rd reply, learn to count.

You post that you "know what needs to be done" and talk about that the hack is private, but i havnt seen a hello world or pong from you...hmm all leet hackers talk like paradox and ferrox about some iso loader bullshit, how it is possible extract key pair from ps3... end result = zero
Your end result is in the NEGATIVE digits, so I wouldn't talk. I have no desire, nor need to hack the PS3; and, if you would AGAIN look a round (yes I know that's hard), you would know why I can't do it, and won't.  You will NEVER see product from me, EVER, so that's it, so you can FLASH that into your volatile memory.

and for your information i DID look up "dev kit" "test" "custom firmware" "cracked firmware" "debug kit in the search bar
Then I can't see how on this EARTH you missed it, and had to start a NEW thread about the same rhetorical crap again?  Wow, that even makes it worse..

And with that note, since I proved all my points, and that this information already exists that can be ADDED to: *CLOSED*
