can any one help me? I can't get windows to log on anymore, it just logs off right away. I can access the files on my hard drive from a boot cd i made but i don't know what to do. I really don't want to reformat my computer, and this seems like a really small fix. can any one help me?

You need to give us more to go on, is it a genuine copy or what?

boot to SAFEMODE
check whats loads on start-up

its the original copy that came with the computer. i tried safemode but it has the same problem, even trying as administrator, it does the same thing. i wasn't doing anything different before it happened either. the computer froze and i had to turn the power off and then i just wouldn't log on.

Oh dude lol i had that same problem a long time ago. Did you open a crack or a keygen or anything? Because i think i needed a crack to get XP to work a while back and i used it but it was a virus and it did the EXACT thing thats happening to you.

it may have been a crack of some kind, i was on myspace just hit the hotmail bookmark. but i didn't actually open anything. no ads or even mail cause i didn't have anything. so how do i fix this then?

I reformated. How are you on this website anyways? And if you cant log on during safe mode then try doing a repair with the win xp disc or if that doesnt work then you only option is to format.

yeah i was trying to avoid reformating but i guess i have no choice. won't be too bad as most of my files and apps are on an external hard drive anyways. well thanks anyway.

No problem. I just redownloaded all my files off torrents when i reformatted. I had to reformat at least 7 times.

i'm using my PS3 to view this site. its not the best of browsers but it gets the job done.
