This is in my veiws, plz no fraging or anything such.

ps3 is already hacked, you know why. linux. whats the point of modifying the firmware but instead try accessing the rsx in linux, then create games from there or homebrew to use the full potential. and there shouldnt be an iso loader because well piracy so in my views its almost hacked(rsx is disabled in linux so ya).

Not really. Its just not as convenient to have to go to a diff OS just to use homebrew. I like the PS3 the way it is now anyways. What else could we do to it if we hack it besides isoloaders and backups?

Re: This is in my veiws, plz no fraging or anything such.

PS3 is not hacked, in any way, shape or form.  Sony is ALLOWING the installation of Linux, and made sure that was all you could do.   Why?  The Hypervisor prevents access to the RSX and all other hardware acceleration features.  At most, there was access to some buffers to make graphics a little faster, but that was patched up with a firmware update, and, has died as well because nothing came of it.  IF it were something, those PEOPLE, would have stayed with the firmware to perfect it, well, they didn't, why?  Because it was really nothing.

SO, the OLD news is?  PS3 IS NOT HACKED, LINUX MEANS NOTHING...   OH, and they also made sure all you got was 10GB of partition space for it, further restricting any LOADING capabilities what so ever.  If they can find in the BIOS where this limitation is, it can be removed.

You have 150+ posts, and must have read what me and that other SMART dude were talking about, and where the limitations are, and why they need to be bypassed.  You saying the PS3 is hacked because of Linux is quite absurd...  If anyone else believe that, well, then we are all doomed.

ALSO, I am aware of the scenario were you people may be keeping on trying to BAIT me into providing more and more information, so, that won't work either.  I know what needs to be done (so does the other dude) to hack the PS3, and the XB360, but, it ain't gonna happen PUBLICLY, by me...  SO many things need discovered first, and so far, NO ONE has been able to get the CPU's KeyVault...   Sorry to say, but the XB360 is in the same boat, except the DVD DRIVE hack, and that's what STUPID M$ gets for using a DVD drive.  The same path will have to be followed with PS3 first, start working on the BR-D drive's firmware and all that other good stuff.  Thing is, it's tougher because it's a proprietary connector, and all other kinds of goodies.  Yep, the XB360 hacked in six months?  PS3?  HA ha!  Going on TWO YEARS, and nothing...  Someone did their homework...

ALso, M$ only recently stopped DVD hacking with the LiteON drive, they removed the FLASH, so only a CHIP would work now...

If you people want to know the power of the CPU, get one of those toshiba that come with it. 99% of the users just want an isoloader.

somegod... the only thing that your are saying in this WHOLE thread is that we need access to RSX. Well let me tell you something, saying that or giving your obvious ideas (unless their good) here has no use.

I dont want to make you mad or anything but i expected more from a dude like you.

Re: This is in my veiws, plz no fraging or anything such.

... no not only to access rsx(sure that would be nice), but all the other thing we want well is pretty much piracy. so homebrew can be made to run through linux, itll be easyer that way then hacking a firmware since it uses the cell, which is a ppc based cpu which means different coding so harder for hacking firmware, and god knows how much sony learned with the psp, and this is more valuable to them so ya.

Re: This is in my veiws, plz no fraging or anything such.

The BIOS is not like a PC, because there are things that DO NOT need to be looked at, or discovered.  The Game systems' BIOS is a set, no post bios.  When you turn it on, everything is decrypted and stored into memory at specific locations, and HARDWARE IS EXPECTED, not detected...

There is very little room for ERROR on boot-up with a Game system.  If hardware is not found, the systems usually just stop.  With a PC, it can continue booting with problems, and halts on MAJOR errors, or no O/S...

I am not certain a DevKit shows it's post status as it boots either.  Even so, there would have to be a point in the boot-up process where the hypervisor is NOT active for it to be useful.  The HAL is on a chip, as usual, and is encrypted.  The Hypervisor is stored in that chip, more than likely as was discussed.  It has to be active the moment the PS3 is turned on...

There is a lot more to do, but when SOMEONE finds the hole, it will be one of those "Wow, why didn't we see this before?" It will probably be something small and stupid that gets the PS3 hacked.  Still, firmware updates will destroy any software exploit.

You need  HARDWARE for the PS3 to hack it... The way the PS3's firmwares are updated, would wipe out both any SYSTEM or BR-D firmware hacks, because the update takes care of that.  With the XB360?  They do NOT update their DVD drives firmware, else those hacks would be defeated every system update.  Well, with PS3, every aspect of the system is UDPATED at one time or another, so any hacked firmware code would be replaced by OEM code at one point or another (unless you remove the write supply voltage to the flash, which is EASY).  SO, want to Hack the Br-D?  Well, the next update may have a BR-D firmware update, so that would be gone, AND, what if that firmware is EXPECTED at boot (system calls on the BR-Ds version)?  Then boot fails because you write protected the flash the last update, and the BR-D is now out of date with the main system update (which is what I would do if I were Sony)...

XB360 users got lucky, because M$ never updates their optical drive firmwares, NEVER.   That way, the hack stays in the drive for as long as it lives.  The 360 system expects the SAME drive version every boot...  If that changes?  You can get an error...  It must be the SAME, that's how they did it. and that's what their mistake was.
