How to install Fedora 9 on the ps3

Numerous test by me indicate fedora 9 is VERY VERY VERY LAGGY. dont ask me why im trying to find out the cause, maybe its the blocked access of rsx. honestly i dont know

K, the reason i made this tutorial is because well after hours on looking for help I didnt find any, so i made this to help out in the future.
Download this and burn it to an cd.
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/ … -ADDON.iso

Next Download fedora 9 ppc and burn is to a dvd.
Here is the link
http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/f … pc-DVD.iso

put in the geoff cd into the ps3.

Next follow this

System > Format drive > PS3 HDD ----- WARNING THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING ON YOUR PS3 Mem BACK IT ALL UP.

Then :-

Custom > 10GB to other os (Rest goes to the ps3)

Your PS3 will restart after this, and you'll notice that your log-in and account data are all still there; that is because it’s stored in a different place along with the XMB firmware. Once you have logged back in, insert the Linux DVD and go to :-

System > Install other OS

Let it search and it will find "otheros.bld" on the cd; install that.

Now back in System, select :-

Default System > Other OS

Insert fedora9 ppc
The PS3 will now always boot to the other operating system. If you have trouble getting back into the XMB operating system, turn off the PS3 and turn it on again, but hold your finger down on the power button and it will boot up into XMB with the video settings re-set to low resolution. Alternatively, in the "Kboot:" prompt you can type "boot-game-os

next depending on your resolution type this

linux64 video=ps3fb:mode:X (where X is the video mode number you want to use)

0:auto mode
YUV 60Hz 1:480i 2:480p 3:720p 4:1080i 5:1080p
YUV 50Hz 6:576i 7:576p 8:720p 9:1080i 10:1080p
RGB 60Hz 33:480i 34:480p 35:720p 36:1080i 37:1080p
RGB 50Hz 38:576i 39:576p 40:720p 41:1080i 42:1080p
VESA 11:WXGA 12:SXGA 13:WUXGA
then follow the on screen instructions.
thats it people
